Story
Chance is the smartest dog we've ever owned! He is 5 years old and originally from Tennessee. He is super athletic, very active, and loyal to a fault. Chance needs a home that has no children or dogs. When he's not energetic, he is super affectionate. He preferably needs a very large yard or farm (since he's a healer) but a fenced in yard will work as well. Back to his smarts.... he is very well trained (went to a month long training and they sent him back after 3 weeks because of how well he did). The reason we are giving him up is because we are having a baby in May. At times he can be unpredictable with his high energy and strength when playing with dogs and young children, and we just can't risk that with a newborn. That is the ONLY time his aggression comes out. Other than that, he really is the perfect dog.

These pups are in Fairfax, Virginia too!

Story
Rosie was a stray in South Carolina who was picked up by a good samaritan along with two other dogs.  She held on to them as long as she could, but already having two dogs of her own, she was unable to keep them.  The shelter picked them all up and quickly realized that Rosie was pregnant.  They were able to put Rosie in a foster home, and they guessed that she would deliver her puppies within two weeks. They were right.  Rosie had 10 puppies, but unfortunately one of them didn't survive.  Poor Rosie worked so hard to feed her babies as much as she could, but it took a toll on her body.  She was very thin, and eventually unable to feed them any more.  Luckily, the pups began to eat mush and were able to survive.  The foster had to return Rosie and her babies to the shelter, because she was pregnant herself, and couldn't care for a mom and all those babies.  The shelter reached out to the rescue community for help, and two wonderful AFH foster moms stepped in to help. One offered to foster the puppies, and the other one offered to foster Rosie. Then, another awesome volunteer, volunteered to drive 500 miles round trip to pick up the whole family.  The stars aligned for this pregnant dog, because had the first foster not taken Rosie in, she would have given birth in an outdoor kennel with dirt floors.  The shelter's kennel building had been torn down and was being rebuilt.  It just opened up the week Rosie came in.  This rescue just might be a Christmas miracle.Rosie is a very sweet girl. She loves people and is great with other dogs. Rosie would make a great addition to any family.Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org December 16, 2024, 7:47 pm
