Story
Our hearts are broken to even be writing this. Calvin has been our snuggle buddy, fetch player, and loyal friend for the last 8 years. Unfortunately, after a year of training, he is just not safe with our 3 month old. His biggest issues are that he doesn’t get along well with young kids but we have seen him do well with kids over the ages of 7 ish. He has never bit a human but he gets hyper and dangerous when he plays rough with younger kids who can’t tell him “no” or “sit” etc. He has played well with a small handful of dogs but most dogs he has not gotten along with. We have had multiple instances where we tried to safely introduce another dog and he would bite or become aggressive. He also has separation anxiety where we give him trazadone & gabapentin to help. He is able to have dog sitters and we can leave the house without him except when there are fireworks he prefers to have someone at home. We wanted to be fully transparent because we want him to go to a loving, safe home.
