Story
He’s a big sweetie Velcro dog who loves butt scratches and knuckles ear rubs. He’s great on leash and following commands, would be a great show dog if that’s what you’re into, though you may have to get him back in shape! He likes to cuddle and sleep on the bed, and he might lick you a little too much.. but he usually stops if you tell him to… sometimes it’s easier to cave in 😂 Apollo has been our dog for the past 7 years. We adopted him at 6 months from a local breeder, but it was immediately clear he had behavioral issues, he can be aggressive with strangers, and is especially anxious around kids. Regardless we chose to give him the best life that we could, but unfortunately his behavior toward our toddler has not improved in the last 18 months and we’ve been forced to keep them separated. This type of life is unfitting of such an otherwise caring dog. A home w/o pets or children is probably best, though he loves boarding and tolerates our other dog.

HOW TO ADOPT: This pet is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this pet, please email fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.---- Loves people and activity and likes to be at the center of whatever's going on - He loves eating treats, playing with his ball, and getting pets from his people - Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he's in a home environment, has had time to decompress, and perhaps has a like-minded dog friend All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Blonde Secondary Color: White Weight: 50.5 Age: 4yrs 6mths 1wks

Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
