Story
Steel is a stunning chocolate and white Australian Shepherd mix, about three years old and 55 pounds of pure potential. This handsome boy is looking for a special home that understands his shy nature and can give him the patience and love he needs to truly thrive.
Steel is dog and cat friendly and would do best in a home with a confident dog sibling to show him the ropes. After arriving at a Central Valley shelter as a stray, he was terrified and completely shut down. But thanks to the dedication of shelter staff, he slowly started to come out of his shell—and now, he’s ready to take the next step toward finding his forever family.
True to his Aussie roots, Steel is a highly intelligent dog who will do best in an active home where he can use both his body and mind. He would make an incredible trail dog and a devoted adventure partner for someone willing to build his confidence. Once he bonds, he will be the most loyal and faithful companion.
Steel is already fully vetted and making great progress with house and crate training. Now, all he needs is a loving home to help him continue his journey.
Could you be the one to give Steel the second chance he deserves?
Start Your Adoption Journey
Ready to bring home your new furry companion? Submit an application using the link below, and our team will carefully review it to determine if you’re the right match for the dog you’re interested in. If your application is a good fit, the foster parent will reach out to schedule a meet-and-greet or request additional information.
If this pup isn’t the perfect match, don’t worry. We’ll provide feedback and suggest alternative matches if possible. Your application remains active for 90 days, so you can still be considered for other dogs in our care. If another pup catches your eye within that period, just email us to have your application applied to a different dog.
