Story
Hello, my name is Charlie, I am approximately a year and a month old. I love to play with other doggies, and my favorite thing is to run around. I prefer a home with a big yard. I know how to listen, and I am very energetic. I am not picky with food. My favorite thing to do is cuddle in the bed, it’s so comfy! I do not like being left alone, I have separation anxiety, I also do not like being left in a kennel that is covered, my past owner traumatized me, and I cannot be in confined spaces. I may seem very shy at first, but I sure have a lot of loves to give. I hope I get to find myself a beautiful family with a big yard, since at this home is not as big and I have now learned to jump the fence, so I am always running away, but I always come back. I just don’t want to get hurt. Thank you.

Story
🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Story
🐶 🐕 JANET Female Border collie mix approximately 7 Months, 38 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 JANET is a seven-month-old, smooth-coated border collie cross, who weighs in at 38 pounds and stands about 24” at the shoulder. She is a well-balanced girl with inquisitive and curious brown eyes. She has a true black and white coat and freckles on her legs. JANET is goofy, fun, energetic, and very curious. She loves to explore the yard on her own, and mostly stays close to her humans when outside. Both agile and athletic, she will run and turn on a dime, then stop, crouch, and look at you. If she hears no command or gets no response, she will continue to run and play on her own. JANET is the kind of border collie pup that is always asking: “Now what do you what me to do?” Whether during training or play, Janet is FULL SPEED with no slow down or halfway. She needs an adoptive family who will spend 90% of their time with her and that will find activities to stimulate her brain and challenge her to think. While Janet could be a wonderful jogging or hiking partner, she might also be a splendid agility dog; she is fast, agile, and learns very quickly. JANET learned very quickly to walk on leash, and her recall is 95% solid, even with distractions. On recall, Janet will run full speed, jump or bound over any obstacle to get to you. Janet is also learning to “sit,” “wait,” and “down.” Her training sessions are short and several times a day with positive reinforcement and food treat reward. Currently, she is not overly toy-motivated, but she is learning to tug and chase the flirt pole with her foster dad. If she is not doing something with her person or supervised, Janet has learned that her crate is a place where she is “off duty” and where she can rest and relax. She would also benefit from learning how to settle and calm herself, that sometimes “doing nothing” is a good job. JANET does extremely well in her plastic XL dog crate. While in foster care, she has not had any accidents in the house or in her crate. Janet sleeps soundly and quietly in her crate through the night; is content in her crate for down time; takes her meals in her crate; and travels very well in a crate when riding in the car. When let outside, Janet will relieve herself on command with positive reinforcement and a food treat reward. In foster care, Janet has not been left to run free unsupervised in the house. Janet tolerates head-to-toe handling, even cooperating for nail trims. Another plus is that she is already spayed. JANET is very playful with her foster brother. During “free time” with her foster brother, Janet knows how to throw her weight around, yet has not displayed any aggression. She has shown no interest in squirrels or cats. Janet has not been exposed to babies, toddlers, or small children. JANET is looking for an active, full-time family who will include her in ALL their activities, and who will spend time with her and train her to reach her true potential. She wants a family who enjoys training, especially rocket fast, smart, busy young border collies. JANET is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about JANET, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. JANET is fostering North of Sacramento CA.
