Story
Meet Ritz, the Adorable Poodle Mix girl! Are you ready to add a bundle of joy and laughter to your home? Meet Ritz, our one-year-old poodle mix, who is ready to find her forever family! Ritz is a crate-trained cutie and is making great progress with her potty training. Given regular opportunities to go outside, she does wonderfully. This affectionate, confident, and cuddly girl loves people and absolutely ADORES other pups. Her curious and eager-to-please nature makes her a joy to be around. As a young and energetic gal, Ritz needs an owner committed to providing her with plenty of exercise to help her burn off her puppy energy. A home with a fenced-in yard and a canine playmate would be perfect for keeping her entertained. Ritz thrives on positive reinforcement training and will need a family to continue guiding her as she grows. Due to her goofy bouncy nature and tendency for vertical greetings, we prefer a home for her with dog-savvy kids that won’t be easily knocked down. Ritz is a happy-go-lucky, silly, and goofy girl who just wants to have fun! Her hilarious antics and solo zoomies in the yard will have you laughing and smiling in no time. Ritz loves intensely, and it’s impossible not to return that love when you see her beautiful, loving eyes. If you’re ready to welcome Ritz into your heart and home, she’ll bring endless joy and affection to your life. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2061756##

Story
Approximate Age: 2 years old Approximate Weight: 71lbs Meet Sir boomer!! New to ODHS, volunteers so far have reported: - Walks well on a leash - Such a sweet boy! - Good amount of energy but not super hyper - Listens well to corrections, loves pets - Medical Note: I am Lyme and Ehrlichia positive. Treatment is typically 28 days of doxycycline (an inexpensive antibiotic). With this disease, a dog may always test positive even if treated. The adopter is responsible for treatment, including cost. Its always a good idea to plan to keep your dog on a joint supplement for life. You can still come adopt me or even join our foster program to help the humans learn all the awesome things about new dogs like me! Learn more on our website! Hope to see you soon! ********************************************************************* Visit our website for an application to adopt. https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-application What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. Educational article: 3/3/3 rule: https://www.rescuedogs101.com/bringing-new-dog-home-3-3-3-rule/?fbclid=IwAR2iv5m7fqk3FieO7LOsstGeGsYYV_F1rJOd1BPxaImofLpcinpYsUbFRWs Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and 11 to 3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week. Like us on Facebook "Old Dominion Humane Society" and be a part of promoting forever homes for dogs in need. #Adopt #Donate #Foster #Volunteer Note: ODHS adopts within a 350 mile radius of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
