Meet Pippa, an Italian Lagotto Romagnolo. Pippa is a rare breed in the United States. She is a wonderful sweet 9 year old girl whose Mom is no longer able to care for her. Lagottos have a 15/16 year life expectancy, so Pippa has many more years ahead of her. Pippa has a condition know as Diabetic Insididos, which means that her kidneys will flush out water faster than usual. Because of this Pippa drinks a lot of water and has to urinate frequently. She takes medication twice daily in the form of eye drops. This is not a sugar-related diabetes and does not require insulin or any other type of medication. Very easy to manage. Pippa also takes medication daily for seizures. Although it has been years since she has had one, her vet recommends that she continue these for the rest of her life. Pippa is good with other dogs but did not get along with the cat in her former home. Pippa has been under the care of the same vet her entire life and he would be happy to help you and continue to care for her if you would like. Similar to Poodles and doodles, Pippa has a beautiful curly coat of hair and would need occasional grooming. Pippa is housetrained and will let you know when she needs to go. She is not crate trained but sleeps well in her own bed at night without accidents. She loves her meals and is treat driven. She loves to talk to you but is not a frequent barker. Pippa needs a large fenced yard to play in. She is very strong on a leash. She would do best with someone home during the day and other dogs. Pippa has been dewormed, microchipped, tested for heartworm, and is on preventive. She has been spayed and has received the distemper-parvo combination vaccine, Kennel cough vaccine and Rabies vaccine. Story

This sweet, handsome fella was roaming the city and county for a few months and no one could catch him. We were called in to help and within a few hours he was safe in our care thanks to a citizen helping man the traps. He is very sweet, friendly and loving but he definitely has a checkered past. He does not like to be left alone for too long and can get destructive. Like many dogs here in TN he was neglected to the point where he lost trust in humans. He has now learned that there are some really great humans and so he wants to be with you. He does like to play with other dogs and will do best in a home with another dog or 2 that are friendly and playful. He is also very young (we can only guess) so he needs an active family. He loves water, going for walks and is a great car rider. He does great with kids too. I think he would love a big, fun family to smother him with love and attention. He will need an adopter willing to work with his separation anxiety and help him get over that(there are lots of free resources). He is a Poodle, not sure if he is pure or a mix but he is going to require regular grooming. He is a high maintenance guy looking for the perfect home to meet his needs. From Merlin's foster mom: I have had the pleasure of fostering Merlin for several months. He was dumped in a rural area and was hard to catch and scared of everything. I brought him into my house and he stayed inside with outside potty breaks while in my care and NEVER had an accident inside. I became worried about his safety when he escaped my fence one day and would not come back to me. He was sent for 2 weeks inboard training. He caught a chicken the day he got loose but dropped it when I told him to and the chicken was unharmed. Merlin slowly warmed up to me and would try to get in to my lap a lot. He is very loving and sweet. He would be a great walking or jogging companion as he is high energy. He was very submissive to all my other dogs and was tolerant of cats but I never left him alone with the cats. Merlin is very smart and funny and he has a wonderful personality. He is a perfect dog but he needs an adopter with a sense of humor. Merlin "The Magician" makes things disappear! He loves to collect household items...shoes, clothes, spoons, canned goods, measuring tapes...whatever he can get his mouth on. He has great fun swiping things the second you turn around. He has a special place he takes his treasurers and understands you will collect your items back. I imagine this will improve as he grows out of puppyhood and with follow up training. He was started with the basics but will continue to need reinforcement of what he has learned.
