Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 2/1/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Posh is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 02/09/22 Posh had entropion repair on his lower eyelid. He also had a dental polishing and a deep ear cleaning. Posh can be prone to ear infections. Keeping his ears clean is imperative.  Weight: 45 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Posh is an active dog that has had a lot of change over the last 8 months. He needs stability and patience and continued socialization. Posh is an alpha male and needs an owner that will commit to positive reinforcement training and redirection of behaviors. Posh prefers women to men so an alpha female owner is his ideal home. Posh could live with other dogs (he always has) or be the only dog. Posh is not good with children and will not be placed in a home with children. He requires SLOW introductions to new people. What is my personality like? Posh and his brother Hans were the beloved companions of a single professional. Sadly, significant health challenges made caring for Posh impossible and he was surrendered to rescue to help him find the right forever home.  Posh's owner describes him as a a big, happy love bug - he thinks he is a toy poodle lap dog! He loves to give big hugs and kisses. Posh is not fond of the vet or of grooming but with lots of gentle persuasion it can be managed.  Here is what our caregivers say about this beautiful boy. Posh is a sweet boy that is looking for a mama. The reason I say “mama” is because posh takes direction from women very easily where as he is a little slower to warm up with men. He needs someone that can keep him in line. He is all boy! Posh does well with other dogs; he enjoys the company of dogs his size. Occasionally when he’s over stimulated you’ll have to correct him and let him know he’s being a little too much. Posh is not the best with strangers - you have to buy this boy's love with treats and patience. He does not appreciate being approached without permission and will let you now his displeasure. Posh slightly pulls on a leash and will need some leash training. He would excel at any type of positive reinforcement training as he is very intelligent. Posh loves belly rubs and does very good about keeping his crate clean. It is required posh have a crate in the home this will help his transition to a new environment as well as give him a place to retreat to when he’s feeling overwhelmed. How do I act when I first meet new people? A little timid, but incredibly treat motivated Other tips and tidbits: Posh is 3.5 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 2/1/2019. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Loki is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.  Weight: 57 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Loki requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Loki is looking for a kid-free, laid-back home. Loki thinks a home in a quiet neighborhood with walking trails nearby would be delightful to live in. Loki would happily spend hours sunbathing and roaming his backyard with a quiet retired couple. He is ideally looking for a home as an only dog simply because he loves to soak up all the attention. Loki does not enjoy being in a crate but does need to eat in a crate due to slight resource guarding of his food. This can absolutely be resolved with time and positive reinforcement training. His home will need to accept him despite this minor quirk, we encourage potential adopters to research on this before applying to adopt Loki. Loki is going to fall into place in any standard poodle lovers' home. What is my personality like? Loki is an utter lovebug. More often than not he is found hugging his caregivers. He adores being the center of attention. Loki is phenomenal on leash and would be an ideal strolling companion. Loki is great with dogs of his size; he frequently is caught playing with other standards. He would not be ideal for small dogs or cats frequently in the home but could walk past them on a leash in the neighborhood. Loki can be shy and uncertain with new strangers from time to time. Give him a few minutes to observe and then start offering treats to him. He warms up fast and once he does, there is no going back with his love. He gives unconditional love to his human and wants to have a forever bond with his very own family.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Shy at first but quickly warms up to someone who knows and understands dogs well.  Other tips and tidbits: Loki was estimated at 4.5 years old. We celebrate his birthday 7/19/2019. House trained? Clifford is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. In July 2023 Clifford had a dental with extractions. Clifford arrived in rescue with severe, prolonged ear infections. Weight: 61 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Clifford requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Clifford is a lover of romance novels. He has to be, because he absolutely loves a slow burn love story. He loves when someone chases after him for his affection. Call him a little selfish but he loves making life all about him. In the most selfless ways too. From bashful glances across the play yards to subtle sniffs at your hand when you walk past him. Clifford yearns for a family that will give him time, and just like those romance novels; He “just needs to make sure he’s ready for the commitment.” He is, he just loves to play hard to get. Call it his hobby. Who can blame him when he is as stunning as he is!  But - Clifford has a weakness, just like most main characters - Treats! Clifford loves food! As a big boy Clifford loves a good snack or meal for that matter. Pull out those treats and well, Clifford is suddenly ready to commit. The moment the smell of bacon hits the air he’s sold. He will approach you with a coy step before delicately taking the treat from you. Clifford is looking for a gentle caring love. Something real and unconditional. He has a modesty about him that he doesn’t wear on his sleeve and trust when we say he’s diligent about who he shows. Clifford is an independent gentleman, but regardless of his lack of copious friend groups Clifford needs a furry companion in the home. Another dog that can show him the ropes and teach him what it’s like to live that luxury lifestyle he craves. What is my personality like? Clifford is regal, dignified you could say, and he knows it. Clifford has a meticulousness about him that can become a sort of game when getting him to really show his true personality. He plays for the big wins for sure, setting down the right calls at the perfect time. He knows how to play his cards, and he plays them sparingly. He doesn’t look for guidance as much as he looks for someone just as distinguished as him. He has a leader deep inside that is bursting at the seams of his heart. Waiting patiently for the perfect person to appear in his life so he can bravely step into his new role as your best friend.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  Clifford has made tremendous progress at CPR and through our time and effort Clifford has become a beautifully curious boy. In new situations Clifford maintains face. Always calm and collected, even if inside he feels a little sheepish. However, that all changes the moment treats are presented. At the crinkle of a bag or the unzip of a Ziplock bag Clifford is slinking his way towards you and stretching his neck out for even a mere sniff of that baked goodness. He will walk over to you with a sway in his step before giving the sweetest eyes. He will take his treat and promptly ask for another. Congratulations you have become a treat jar, Clifford is your best friend. From there he will allow gentle pets and sweet words. The rest will be history. Other tips and tidbits: Clifford is estimated at 6 years old. We celebrate his birthday 07/06/2017. House trained? Clifford is clean in his crate! Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Weight: 51.2 lbs Height: 24 in at the shoulder est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Finn requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Finn initially was believed to be a follower, however in his months here with us we have seen a leader buried deep beneath the scars of past let downs. He is powerful and determined in a group and we know Finn needs another dog in the home. A dog he can learn from and officially become the leader of. Finn is very much 'the student becomes the teacher' type. He requires teaching before blossoming, but once he had open up he is a fun free spirited individual with the capacity to teach you something! Finn loves to play in the right setting and once he has found his click, he runs with the best of them! Finn would love hikes and jogs with a furry companion to first show him what to do. Once he learns you better watch out, we're not sure you could keep up!  Finn loves big dogs, and he is a big boy. Finn plays much better with bigger dogs and would appreciate a bigger friend in the house. He is most comfortable with dogs 40lbs and above. Anything smaller and Finn just doesn't understand how to play with them. He has big brother ideas of rough housing and wrestling that are a little too much for his smaller counter parts. Finn had yet to be cat tested, we assume no cats would be a better option for him. What is my personality like? Finn is a tall and handsome guy man! His ability to charm surpasses any other dogs, but he has a mysterious air to him. He will reel you in with his good looks before dashing off as if he never once asked you to come over. He's a sucker for a slow burn love story, and he loves to be chased after. Not literally, but if you have ever laid your eyes on a romance novel or watched a Hallmark movie, you get the picture. Finn is young and like a lot of young people he is not exactly sure what he wants, or about anything for that matter. He loves guidance, there is a leader deep inside of Finn he simply needs that push to break him out of his shell! Finn has a heart of gold and he offers it sparingly. Though young he knows the burn of a broken-heart and he is not keen on getting another. His charm draws you in, but he believes in 'actions speak louder than words.' Something we all can relate to, and with his understanding of all things human Finn is intelligent! Learning with the speed of light. He is working on his 'sit' queue and has almost mastered 'wait' when going through thresholds. Finn understands a leash but does best with a confident and strong mentor that can show him how its really supposed to work. How do I act when I first meet new people? Finn is in this for the long haul, and if you know anything about winning a potential love interest over well Finn is no different. With a 'catch me if you can' attitude Finn shows a more bashful side once roped in. Choosing to float around the idea of love it takes him just a bit to fall into your arms and be swayed. However, like most hard-to-get types once he is there you just can't peel him off. Like you would want too anyways, he shows a sweet and loving side once he is comfy and with looks like his you should be proud, he's as attached to you as he is.  Other tips and tidbits: Finn's date of birth is 6/7/2023.   House trained? Finn is clean in his crate, but has never lived crate free in a home and will need guidance here. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Yes, Shiloh Trixie is an escape artist.  I do not trust her with just leash walking.  She loves to romp with her friends and needs the security and safety of her own private dog park in her back yard. What kind of home would be best for me? Shiloh Trixie is a sweet, shy girl who is on a journey to becoming a loving and loyal companion. She was surrendered because her previous owner who, after just a short time in their home, realized they were unable to provide the time and attention she needed. Currently, Shiloh Trixie thrives in the company of other dogs and enjoys playing with energetic, playful canines. She learns a lot from her doggy friends and takes her cues from them. Shiloh Trixie will only be placed in a home with at least one, and even more is fine, standard poodles who will accept her into their world.  She will always need a friendly, confident dog friend who can serve as a positive role model. As for humans, Trixie is much more comfortable around women and she prefers you to be under 5'4" ( I know, you did not know dogs could measure right?).  She is hesitant around taller individuals. This behavior may be a remnant of her previous situation, and we are working with her to help her feel more secure around all people. This gentle girl needs an adopter who can offer patience, kindness, and consistency as she continues to develop her social skills. Shiloh Trixie walks well on a leash but will need to learn basic commands such as sit, stay, down, and come. She is highly treat-motivated, which will help her pick up these skills quickly. In her crate, Shiloh Trixie feels safe and secure; she has never had accidents in it. She enjoys playing with toys and sometimes "borrows" them from her doggy friends. Shiloh Trixie will thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day to provide the guidance and support she requires. She would do well with a single person, a couple, or a family with mature children aged 16 and older. With a loving and dedicated owner, Shiloh Trixie will grow into a wonderful companion. Watching her blossom into a confident, loving pet will be a truly rewarding experience. What is my personality like? Shiloh Trixie gets along well with other dogs and tends to mirror their behavior. If they are playful and happy, she will be too; if they are agitated, she might also become unsettled. A home with a well-adjusted large canine companion(s) would be ideal for her. How do I act when I first meet new people? Shiloh Trixie is initially shy and may take some time to warm up. She tends to do better with women and might be cautious around men or individuals more than six feet tall. With patience and gentle encouragement, she will continue to improve in her social interactions. Other tips and tidbits: We have no documents on Shiloh.  We were told she was about two (2), so we estimate her birthdate to be on or around 8/8/22.  Shiloh Trixie is the kind of dog for those of us who love this breed, hate what has happened to them during covid, and has the space and time to welcome a follower dog into their home.  She is going to be a great buddy to someone.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue:9/11/24 Reason for being in rescue: Release from TN shelter after found as a stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Crystal Gucci is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Crystal Gucci was found as a stray so we have no history on her pedigree. Our best guess is that she is a doodle of some sort. We will never guarantee that a doodle is hypoallergenic or that they will not shed. If you have allergies, Crystal is not your dog.  If you have another dog, Crystal is not your dog.  Crystal needs an only dog home.  No dogs parks.  She does not need or want canine friends.   Weight: 55 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Crystal Gucci requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Crystal Gucci requires an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away. She is kind of a unique girl. Crystal Gucci is strong-willed, opinionated, and determined; traits that make her an engaging companion. But don’t let her moody side fool you; she’s also a devoted love bug who thrives on affection and attention. With the right guidance and patience, she will blossom into a wonderful pet. Crystal Gucci will do best in a home where someone is around more often than not, allowing for the consistent training and companionship she craves. This girl has likely been in a loving home before and would be thrilled to join a new family. . Crystal walks alone.  We've tried to introduce doggie companions, and she could care less - and sometimes cares enough to snap.  Leave me be is all over her demeanor.  Crystal says there is no room in your life for more than one big girl and she is it. Please do not get us wrong.  Crystal is an awesome dog.  We all think she is beautiful and she is special and unique. She simply has boundaries and rules (don't we all) and in the right home, she is going to absolutely thrive.  In the wrong home, it will be a disaster.   She also has some quirks about barriers, which we've detailed below. Given this, she is likely best suited to a home with older children or no children. She’s shown that she can thrive as the center of attention!  She is phenomenal with adults.   What is my personality like? Meet Crystal Gucci, a beautiful and friendly three-year-old big white standard poodle mix with a big heart and an even bigger spirit who is destined to be your next best friend! Crystal Gucci is a strong willed and opinionated girl. When it comes to other dogs, she will let you know her likes and dislikes; she is discerning when it comes to her canine friends. She has done well around other big dogs but doesn’t interact well with small dogs or cats. Crystal Gucci walks exceptionally well on a leash and knows how to sit on command. With a little time and positive reinforcement, we believe she’ll quickly learn other basic commands like come, stay and down. Crystal Gucci LOVES car rides but be sure to give her enough room to stick her head out the window. She likes to pretend she’s biting the cars that go by like a kid that uses their finger to shoot the cars that go by. Have we mentioned that Crystal Gucci is kind of a unique girl! It’s important to note that Crystal Gucci has some quirks when it comes to barriers. Whether in a crate, run, or behind a fence, she can react strongly. However, once you enter her space, she transforms into a loving cuddle bug, eager for pets and affection. If her new home has a fence, she’ll do well as long as there are no other dogs nearby. While she may react to dogs on the other side, she calms down quickly once they’ve passed. Crystal Gucci is ready for her second chance at a forever home. If you’re an experienced dog owner who can embrace her quirks and provide her with the love and guidance she needs, there’s no better companion than Miss Crystal Gucci, she will Light Up Your Life! How do I act when I first meet new people? When it comes to meeting new people, Crystal Gucci is a social butterfly! During a recent visit to Lowe’s, she was in her element, happily greeting everyone she encountered. With her charm and enthusiasm, she’s sure to expand your social circle and make new friends wherever you go. Other tips and tidbits: Crystal was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on her. We celebrate her birthday 8/22/21.  Do you have acreage?  We've not done a DNA test, but Crystal has "herding/protecting" all over her personality. We think she'd love to live on a small farm, far away from the lights and sirens and fences and all the trappings of suburbia. She would prefer the country life where she can be free to protect what she feels like is hers.  House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Thank you for considering CPR. December 9, 2024, 6:10 am
