Story
Location: Lynd, MN Hi! I'm Tirie! I'm some kind of big doodle mix! I was surrendered to the Humane Society before coming to Rescue Network & I had puppies before, but the rest is pretty unknown! I've been doing really well at my foster home& I'm figuring out that I can snooze on the couch here& I really like that! I'm potty trained& kennel trained. I may whine a bit at the beginning of the night, but I calm down! I love the squeaky long snake toy here& tennis balls are basically the best thing on earth! I live with other dogs, cats& kids& seem to enjoy everyone! I know basic commands well, but I get super excited& my foster mom tells me to sit my booty down a lot & I do listen! I just need some reminders when I'm extra excited! ----- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (Distemper, Rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

Story
Hi, I'm Mr. Tumnus, but you can call me Twizzle—my friends do! I’m all about the cozy home life, long walks (I’m pretty good on a leash and don’t pull much), and making the occasional doggy friend. I’m working hard on learning to sit for attention and wait my turn, but it’s tough when I’m so excited! I love playing in the yard and can’t get enough of cuddles from my humans. I’m happiest when I’m with my people, and while I’m okay with bigger dogs, I’d rather just chill with my human pals. Honestly, I’d prefer a life of luxury where I don’t have to share all that love and attention with another dog. I’m a pretty enthusiastic guy, and my joy for life is hard to miss (maybe not ideal if you live in an apartment with thin walls). I see the world as one big playground, and I’m on the lookout for a home that loves adventure as much as I do but also gives me the structure and activities I need to keep thriving. Oh, and I’m still getting the hang of this potty training thing. I’m pretty good when someone’s keeping an eye on me, but I need more practice when I’m on my own. With a little patience and time, I know I’ll master it! ##1892153##

Story
Are you looking for a furry friend who is full of love, energy, and intelligence? Look no further! Colt is an adorable 1.5-year-old, 65 pound Aussiedoodle and he's ready to find his forever home. Colt is a bundle of joy and enthusiasm! He loves to play with people and other dogs. He is also a cuddle bug who enjoys snuggling up on the couch after a day of fun. Colt would do best in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise and mental engagement. He gets along well with other dogs and would love a canine sibling to play with. He is great with kids and would make a wonderful family pet. A fenced yard would be a bonus, as he loves to run and explore. He does well with going potty outside as long as he sticks to a schedule. He enjoys car rides. He is kennel trained, so he can be confined for up to 8 or 9 hours while you're away, although he will complain for a few minutes. He can be kenneled at night but he definitely prefers sleeping in a bed with his people. Colt is more than just a pet; he’s a loyal companion who will bring endless love and happiness to your life. His playful spirit and affectionate nature make him the perfect addition to any home!  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $595 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 3, 2024, 5:49 pm

Story
I am available for adoption under a Foster to Adopt agreement. This means that my adopter would act as my foster for a period of up to 30 days before finalizing the adoption. Hi! My name is Shadow! From the Foster: Unique adoption requirements: Shadow is an extreme flight risk and has escaped foster homes twice now and had to be live trapped after 10 days on the run. Due to this, his adopter must have a 6 foot tall secure fence. There also must be another friendly/confident dog in the home to model positive human/dog interactions for him. Additionally, his adopter should be experienced with extremely fearful/shut down dogs. Meet Shadow, the sweetest boy, who is truly scared of his own shadow. Shadow is going to need a truly special adopter willing to give him the time and space he needs to eventually trust people. Our best guess is that Shadow is likely a labradoodle - he was a breeder release from a puppy mill situation. Shadow is terrified of humans. We believe he was abused and likely never had a single positive interaction with a human prior to being rescued. Shadow is scared of all people, but especially men, so for the last 3 months since he's been in rescue, his foster mom has been the sole person caring for him so he can slowly start to trust one person at a time. He has learned to trust her a little but he is still extremely nervous even with her. When taken out on a leash to potty, Shadow is very skittish and constantly darts his vision back and forth between looking ahead and looking at his foster mom to see if she will make sudden movements. He startles at the sound of rustling leaves, loud cars, or even things like coughing or sneezing. The sound of dribbling basketballs from the neighbor kids or a lawn mower is especially frightening for him and he will try to pull to get away from the sound. Even with having a 6 foot fence, it will be important to leash Shadow when outside as he will not willingly come back inside and is very hard to catch, particularly until he trusts you more. It's important to note that if you have a deck or any small space he can hide under or in outside, Shadow will find it and hide in it and not come out so any space in your backyard that he could hide under or in will need to be blocked off. Eye contact is scary for Shadow. He prefers that you don't look directly at him when talking to him. It will be important for an adopter to follow Shadow's cues and let him come to you, which so far has only happened a handful of times in 3 months for his foster mom. These instances involved other dogs in the home coming near her where he tried to mimic them. For this reason, it will be a necessity that there is another dog in the home who is friendly and confident as this will help model positive dog/human interaction for Shadow. Shadow does great with other dogs - in fact other dogs are the ONLY thing he isn't scared of. When humans are not around, we have seen him play with other dogs on our cameras and it's so fun to see him relax when we're not around. Shadow is potty trained, however he will sometimes pee or poop inside when frightened. This has happened from thunderstorms and people startling/scaring him. He will not willingly get in a vehicle and has to be picked up and put in the car. Because of his breed, he will need regular brushing and grooming and due to his anxiety, he would benefit from someone able to do this grooming in his own home. Shadow's kennel is his safe place and his adopter will need to get a similar safe place set up for him that he has access to go in and out of. Doing so will give him a place to retreat to when scared but will allow him to come out of it when he feels comfortable. Depending on the layout of your home, extra tall baby gates may be a necessity to keep him safe and from escaping out front doors. Shadow takes anxiety meds twice per day. He will likely need to be on meds for life. Shadow does not eat or drink anything if humans are around. Occasionally he will refuse to eat a meal at all, but will sometimes eat it a few hours later. He eats and drinks in his kennel and waits until people have left the room to do so. He does not eat treats and is not food motivated at all - likely because he's too scared to eat in the presence of people. Once Shadow is adopted, his world will need to be kept very small for a long time. This would mean not bringing him anywhere except your yard and vet and also not having him meet a lot of people. It's unknown how he would do with kids, but it would be reasonable to have older, considerate children only in the home as small children and their sudden movements will likely scare him too much. Anything loud or sudden is very scary for him. Shadow is not currently the type of dog who is going to give you affection or any clear sign that he even likes you. In the 3 months he's been in his foster home, he has licked his foster mom's hand one time. This is the only affection he has shown. Our hope is that he eventually will be able to connect with humans, but realistically it will take at least a year and even still it's not a guarantee. His progress has been 1 step forward, 3 steps back. He has had very small breakthroughs but they are incredibly rewarding to see. It is our hope that this bio of Shadow scares the majority of people off because while he's a cute doodle, it's important to know how absolutely broken Shadow is and how incredibly long his journey to a "normal dog is going to be. It is likely that Shadow will never be a normal dog - he is not a dog that may ever be a companion - he may never seek out affection and he may never be comfortable receiving it. Shadow needs an adopter who is willing to put in very hard work without seeing much reward for a long time, while knowing that they are giving a very scared dog an opportunity to know what real love looks like and that people can be trusted after all.

Story
Hi! My name is Drake and I am from Missouri! From his foster: Drake is very sweet boy who loves being pet and hanging out with his humans. He is calm and quiet and will enjoy his alone time when left alone, but will follow you around if you're home for head scratches. Drake was a breeder release which means that he is still learning how to 'dog' in a few ways and could use some socialization and training. He doesn't know commands like "sit" or "come" but will come and sit if guided to or encouraged. He is still learning how to use stairs but has been great with elevators. He also does not take much interest in dog toys and seems more confused in how to play with them. Drake has been excellent with meeting new people and dogs. He is not initially 'enthusiastic' but will be interested and calm when meeting. From his previous foster, he has done well with other dogs in the house and seemed to not mind the cat. He does take some time to warm up to new people and new locations and will hesitate with new experiences, but allows you to pick him up and move him around without protest. Drake would fit well into a home that is willing to take time to earn his trust for his full personality to come out. He will need some training and socialization, and may benefit from a role-model dog (or dog friends) to show him how to play, use stairs, etc. He does well with younger kids from those he has met as he is very gentle. He is potty trained and has alerted me when needing to go outside, but will need to learn new associations in a new home. He is still learning stairs, so will need more training or a model dog brother/sister if you have stairs in your home. He has done well with elevators and seems not to mind them.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bernie was released from a breeder in Minnesota.  He has not experienced a lot...but is learning so very much every single day. He loves other dogs.  Cats and young children are unknown, however he probably would do great with a cat, and kids he always wants to go up to and is very gentle. The quick movements and running and screaming may scare him though. Another dog and a fenced in yard is a must. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Bernie is crate/ kennel trained and knows that potty is for outside.  He loves to be outside with his playmats.  Jolly Balls of all types are his favorite (the ones with a rope through or the ones with handles).  Inside his favorite toys are stuffies.  He eats very slowly and gets distracted easy which causes him to stop eating, so kenneling while eating is best for him.  He loves to have chewies in his kennel (dentastix/ greenies/ colla chews/ cheek rolls) and he enjoys a stuffed kong every night when he sleeps without a peep inside his crate.  Bernie is an absolute joy to have near and has very soulful eyes.  When he arrived he would not seek people out for pets.  He does now with great joy that the top of his head gets messaged. He is not bothered by shopping carts or fireworks, but is learning every day to trust, and to know that even though things may be unknown or inexperienced, they are not bad. If you have patience and love to give, he will for surely give you love and loyalty right back.  Bernie is searching for the absolute best forever home and if you feel you measure up, please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 1, 2024, 5:20 pm
