Story
Apply to Adopt Me! FOSTER or ADOPTER NEEDED: Do you love frequent hugs with no time limit, curly hair and well-choreographed circle dancing? Abbie may be your answer for a forever housemate. She is approximately 2 1/2 years old, weighs 42 lbs. is a loving, affectionate doodle who loves people and kids, but is a bit shy at first with men. She loves all dogs, has never met a cat while with our rescue, but is not neighborly to a bunny rabbit. She does have some excitement pee when it’s time to go for a walk or when a new friend visits and other times too. But that is an easy fix by simply having her wear a diaper in her new home. A calm home for her is a must. We think she may have been abused before coming to our rescue, so she needs someone who will love her enough to be patient with her. She loves all types of treats, and will follow one inside her crate.  She has not been destructive, and is  fine left free roam in the home. She is in her crate at bedtime and is fine overnight until she hears or sees morning activity. Then she is up and alert and ready to rock 'n roll. ... see previous note regarding circle dancing. She is working on having acceptable outside manners and her forever home will need to have patience. Abbie's leash skills are still a work in progress. She often barks at upcoming pedestrians, but is easily settled. She pulls and often bolts at unexpected movement. The Gentle Leader headcollar is helping us help her learn to walk like a lady. She likes to fetch throwable toys. It seems soft toys are her preference. After a long walk, she likes to come home to a big bowl of water and time to relax on the cool kitchen tile. She barks when the doorbell rings, or when a stranger comes a callin'. She’s fine riding in the car. She is always in the same room with her people - she would prefer for people to be around her at all times. When relaxing with a book or watching TV, she comes around often for a hug. Abbie is young, playful, loyal, affectionate and energetic girl. An active family with a fenced back yard would be ideal.  ** Please read before applying for Abbie: *** Most doodle parents were never told about coat care. They just see "a cute dog." While doodles are low shedders and make wonderful pets, their coats are some of the most difficult and most expensive to maintain. They require more at-home brushing than a poodle and their hair can take twice as long for your groomer to wash and dry than a poodle. Due to their high maintenance, their grooming bill will be significantly higher than a poodle of the same size and they will need grooming more often. DAILY brushing and combing is a MUST to prevent painful mats, with professional grooming required every 4-6 weeks. At-home bath regimens are lengthy. Water will shrink up the two coat types and cause immediate matting. To avoid mats you will need to brush then comb the entire body properly when the pup is dry. This includes if your doodle gets wet from rain. Educate yourself by researching coat care of a doodle. If you are sure you have the time, patience and financial means to devote to Abbie, match ALL of the qualifications above, and you live in the greater Orlando area, please complete an application and tell us how you are the perfect family for her. Story
Meet Tinlee & Emma! 4 yr old doodle sisters looking to make their way into a loving home together. They are 84 lbs (Tinlee) & 78 lbs (Emma) so collectively, they are 162 lbs of pure love!  All about Tinlee.... General Behavior: Tinlee is a very goofy girl who can often be found trotting around her home in pure glee, waiting for her full-body rubs and snuggles. She thrives on attention, cuddles, and spending time with her sister, Emma. Likes & Dislikes: Terrific Tinlee enjoys living in the moment, especially if it means playing with her toys. She’s known for encouraging her sister and her humans to join in on the fun, and with a face as cute as hers, how can you resist?! Training: These adorable gals have good basic manners and do well with their housetraining when let out frequently. They are both quite strong and are working on their leash-walking skills. Tinlee is a bit more on the silly side, but she makes up for it in enthusiasm and aims to please. Medical: Both Emma and Tinlee are healthy pups who just require their monthly heartworm and flea preventative. Other Animals: Tinlee enjoys the company of other dogs, although she prefers to hang out with her sister. Both girls do well with cats. Children: A home with children would be a great fit for these gentle and darling pups! Home: A single-family home or dog-friendly apartment living would make for a perfect fit for Emma and Tinlee, although they are large pups and will require a sizeable home with a family that can provide them with the activity and playtime that they love. Grooming: As Poodle-blends, Emma and Tinlee will require regular brushing and a trip to the groomer every so often for a trim. Their family can expect to pay approximately $85+ per pup for grooming and should be aware of this recurring expense. Overall: Emma & Tinlee are a very lovable duo that is sure to steal your heart as soon as you meet them! All about Emma.... General Behavior: Emma is a laid-back and easy-going pooch. She watches and makes her moves in a very deliberate manner. While she can often be found snoozing away on a comfy dog bed, she is quick to step up for attention and cuddles. Likes & Dislikes: Emma loves to snuggle with her human and her sister, Tinlee. She’s quick to respond when yummy treats are involved and enjoys partaking in fun games of fetch! Training: These adorable gals have good basic manners and do well with their housetraining when let out frequently. They are both quite strong and are working on their leash-walking skills. Emma is particularly polite about taking her treats and waiting her turn for them. Medical: Both Emma and Tinlee are healthy pups who just require their monthly heartworm and flea preventative. Other Animals: Emma enjoys the company of other dogs, although she prefers to hang out with her sister. Both girls do well with cats. Children: A home with children would be a great fit for these gentle and darling pups! Story
Hello, I’m Oliver . . . I am just over 1 ½ years old and am a poodle boy.  I currently weigh 55 lbs.  I’ve been getting lots of love in my foster home, and now I am ready for my new FUR-ever family.  I hope you enjoy reading more about me.  I can tell you one thing for sure . . . I LOVE people.  Plus, I'm handsome!  General Behavior: Oliver is very laid back and enjoys being around people.  He has also been described as athletic, clever, shy and independent.  Likes & Dislikes: Oliver loves his toys and is perfectly content to lay on a dog bed and play with them. He is not, however, a fan of sharing toys with other dogs.  He loves car rides.  Loud noises are not his thing, and he startles easily and will hide. Training: Oliver is housebroken in his foster home and will need to continue being let out on a regular schedule.  Overall, he has good basic manners.  He could use more practice with leash walking. He is food and treat-motivated, which lends itself to easier positive reinforcement training. Medical: Oliver is a healthy fella and will just require his monthly heartworm and flea prevention, like any other dog. Other Animals: Oliver is experienced with dogs of all sizes. He seems to do better when there is another dog around, so a home with a fur-friend who can respect boundaries would be ideal.  Oliver has experience with cats and basically ignores them. Children:Oliver has not been around children in his foster home.  He did, however, experience children at the vet's office.  They found that Oliver was nervous and startled around the children.  Due to this, as well as his skittishness and fear of loud noises, a home without children would be needed.    Home: Oliver has been left alone for several hours in a secure area of his foster home with no issues.  He loves to run outside so will require a single-family home with a fenced yard where he can run and play.  He does tend to bark and cry when his person leaves the house but settles down after a few minutes.  Having another dog in the home does help.  After a day of play and loving his people, he gets a good night’s rest in his dog bed.     Grooming:  As a poodle, Oliver will require professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. The “average” cost for this is $85 and this ongoing cost should be taken into consideration by all potential adopters.  Overall: If you are looking for a laidback guy who will provide you lots of love, Oliver might be for you. Are you the one for Oliver?  Please visit our website, www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt.  You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match.  Oliver is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.  His adoption donation is $600. ##2131436##
