Story
Ruby is an almost 2 yr old Staffordshire mix. I took her in as a foster from an acquaintance that could no longer keep her. Ruby is a very sweet and affectionate girl with lots of energy. She gets along with most dogs as long as they are properly introduced (preferably bigger breeds). She loves to play fetch, enjoys walks, both long and short, and relaxing with her people. She catches on to new commands and rules very quickly. I hope I can find a loving and well-suited forever family for her as she deserves nothing but the best. Note: Ruby does have allergies and will need to be on allergy meds for most of the summer/fall. (If I cannot get her adopted within a month, I will have to give her to a shelter and I'd rather not have to do that.)

Story
Oreo is an incredibly sweet, smart, loyal dog that deserves more space and time to play than my health can provide. In the three weeks Ive had him he has learned sit, stay (even when out of sight), leave it, and to walk with a loose leash, which he can do like 60% of the time. Compared to immediately diving for any trash on the street and running after any squirrel or bird, thats incredibly clever. He loves cuddles, to chew his bone, fetch, or sniff around outside. For an energetic boy he doesnt really run of his own volition, only really running and jumping if encouraged and played with, useful when off leash. He does very well in his crate while at work but he needs more time out of it than I can give, at least 1.5 hours of exercise a day. I think a family with kids would be perfect for him, or anyone who runs. Hes been good with other dogs so far, but only a handful of experiences. All his toys, bowls, crate, etc. can come with his adoption, fee is to ensure willingness to adopt

Story
Age:6 Weight: 75 Location: Hagerstown, MD Nicknames: Pauliewogs, Paulie D, Piddly Diddly Doo Good with other dogs?: No, must be the only dog in the house. Although Paulie has lived with another dog before, he is dog reactive and needs to be the only dog in the house. Good with cats? no Good with children? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with kids under 10 Activity Preference: Needs a couple walks a day., Needs in-house activities, Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Will go with the flow, Champion couch potato IQ: Smart Paulie's favorite things: Paulie loves car rides, treats, meal time, hanging on the couch with his humans, belly rubs, laying in the sun, walks to sniff around the neighborhood, sitting in a window to keep eyes on the neighborhood, especially from the SQUIRRELS! Paulie is good at: meeting people, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, walking on a leash, following commands Ideal home: no children, quiet environment, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, Lots of exercise opportunities Training Needs: Health issues: None About: Paulie is literally “man’s best friend”. He has not met a human he did not like. He thrives off of human attention and loves quality time cuddling on the couch or just being by your side. He is a great supervisor. He is a couch potato but gets spurts of energy and is always up for a walk. Paulie is extremely smart and picks up tricks and training so fast! He is food motivated so training has been easy. He loves treats and is gentle 90% of the time (10% when he is super excited he grabs quick, but not ‘biting quick’). Paulie also loves breakfast and dinner time, so his day revolves around meal time. Paulie can be mischievous so when he’s unattended he needs to be in his crate to keep him safe. He loves chasing squirrels in the backyard, and the occasional zoomie run around the yard too! Paulie is a big love bug and just wants to be your best friend. He loves his spot on the couch looking out the window keeping an eye on the neighborhood for Squirrel Patrol. Paulie does get overstimulated with new experiences, so a routine and slowly introducing him to different things works best.To be considered for adoption, you must apply using our free, online application. Our dogs are fostered in our volunteers' homes, not in a central shelter/location. Only approved applicants are put into contact with the foster family to setup a meeting with the foster dog. Story
Gwen is a sweet and loving staffordshire who was rehomed to us at around 7 months old. We were told by Gwen's previous owner that they got her from a rescue and that she had been abused. After Gwen came to live with us more of her issues became evident, such as, high anxiety, skiddish and difficulty house breaking. We reached out to the original owner for more information and vet records and at that point communication was cut off, we were essentially ghosted. We have worked with Gwen on housebreaking and going potty outside with no lasting results. Gwen will sometimes go outside and sometimes just not go outside. She hasn't responded to positive reinforcement and it is evident she needs more training that is beyond my skill set and ability to provide. We have two other dogs whom she gets along with well. Again, Gwen is a very sweet and loving dog, loves to snuggle and give kisses and highly anxious and at times as we call it forgets how to dog and needs the right person to show her.

Story
Meet Tulip, the sweetest girl with a heart full of love! At 2.5 years old and around 40 pounds, she has the prettiest brindle coat! She is so ready to find her forever home. Just look at her smile—it perfectly captures the joy and affection she’s eager to share! Tulip adores people, including older kids, and is even fond of cats—though she sometimes gets a little too excited around them at first because she just wants to play. She's a cuddlebug who loves belly rubs and being near her humans. Some of her favorite activities include tug-of-war (when her ropes survive!), fetch, and chewing on toys. Tulip already knows several commands, including “sit,” “down,” “up,” and “come." This sweet girl is both house and crate trained. With her love for treats, she’s highly motivated and will thrive with continued training. Tulip enjoys her walks, and needs some guidance in managing her excitement when seeing other dogs, as well as learning to walk on a loose leash instead of pulling. She’s not food aggressive, but will happily snatch your food if you're not paying attention lol! She also tends to jump when greeting people, so a home without children under 12 is a must as she can knock a younger kid over. Though Tulip loves kitties, her playful nature can be overwhelming at first, so she'll need some supervision and time to adjust. When it comes to other dogs, she’s still figuring out how to interact and can get overly excited, so more socialization will be important. We’re requiring that Tulip go to a home with a fenced yard or at least an active household, with someone experienced with bully breeds. Her future family must be committed to continuing with her training. With the right guidance, Tulip will be an incredible, loving companion for the perfect person or family! DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake. ***TULIP IS FOSTERED NEAR CLEVELAND, OHIO, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc).  Our adoption fee is $250 plus health certificate and transport if adopting out of state (varies by location). This fee includes all current vaccinations, deworming, microchip & lifetime registration, spay/neuter, and a heartworm test. All dogs are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport if adopting from out of state. Story
**SPECIAL NEEDS - Blind, Hearing Impaired, Neurologically Impaired but no actual medical needed for her-- Needs Local Adopter ** Mila was found in a ditch at only 5 weeks old by a good samaritan and taken to the shelter in SC. It was very clear that something was wrong as she was not able to move and was crying from pain. We immediately pulled her and had her rushed to the ER where she was treated for dehydration and parasite infestation. It became evident that there was something wrong neurologically with Mila and we were told she may not survive. Mila is a little walking miracle and today, at 3 years old, she is doing amazing. She was seen by our neurologist who confirmed that she is blind in one eye and extremely visually impaired in the other and is hearing impaired. She also has some damage to the back right side of her cerebellum which keeps her a little off balance. The good news is that she has a completely functional and good quality of life. She is the happiest little girl who prances around the house and loves to be outdoors in the sun. She gets excited when other dogs come around and she likes to snuggle with her humans and canine siblings. While she is not able to play fetch, go hiking or for walks like a normal dog, she does enjoy marching aimlessly around a fenced in yard with the sun in her face. She can live with anyone and anything as she is not a threat to any living being. She can be with babies, kids, dogs, cats, guinea pigs.... any animal in the world. She is able to go up the stairs but cannot go back down so she does need to be carried if she is to use stairs. She adapts super quick to new environments and finds her away around with no problems. She really is an exceptional little girl who just needs a family to give her a chance. She is very sweet and fun to be around. She has been looking for a home for 3 years and deserves to finally have a family to call her own. To adopt our special little Mila, please apply at http://keytolionsheart.org/adopt    November 4, 2024, 12:43 pm

Story
Meet Gigi! We found her starving in a park in 2019. She was terrified of us at first but didn't have the strength to get away. (the fear turned to kisses before we even got her to the car lol) The vet estimates her to be 6 or 7 now. She's probably a pitbull of some type, although small for one, weighing around 40 lbs. She's a wonderful little dog but growing medical expenses are forcing me to make some changes. Gigi just wants to be close 24/7 and absolutely hates to be alone. She's not a pain though. If you lay around all day so does she, but is always ready for a hike. The thing w Gigi and other animals is this: I've fostered 4 other dogs and 2 cats since adopting her and she's been fine w them all. She actually grows quite attached to other dogs but the cats scare the crap out of her. lol The problem is if a strange dog comes anywhere near the house when we're out she completely flips. Never on ppl, but nonetheless I muzzle her unless I'm 100% sure no dogs are near.
