Story
- Polite, well-mannered girl who is very cuddly; her soft, sweet eyes will melt your heart - Gets the zoomies after being let out of her kennel and after coming in from potty breaks, but after she plays with her toys a little she settles right down and just wants to be near you - Has a squeaky toy she adores in her foster home, and she loves carrying her plush toys around the house - Has done amazing in the car - just lies right down in the back seat and is content to hang out with you- Excellent on a leash and only pulls slightly for the occasional rabbit or good smell - Has been potty trained in her foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine - Has done well in a crate in her foster home and has been well-mannered and quiet - Mostly a lounger and is very tuned in to her people's energy; if you want to play, she'll play, and if you want to relax she'll relax- While in her foster home, she has been polite and friendly when meeting new people and gladly accepts pets; previously has shown some nervousness in new environments, so please plan to give her extra time to settle in and get used to new things if she needs that - Is currently living in an apartment setting and has done well there; can be a little nervous when she hears strangers in the hall, but calling her name or reassuring her that it's OK calms her - Looking for a teens-and-up home right now- Has been fearful around other dogs and tends to avoid them; needs to be the only dog in her home right now- Needs a home with no catsAll adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for ageThe ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, and not breed label Primary Color: Grey Weight: 45 Age: 1yrs 9mths 1wks

Story
- Already knowing shake and sit, she loves to learn and has great focus - especially if you have treats - so would be a lot of fun to train - Once she finds her people, she is happy to go on walks, ask for pets, and eat plenty of treats - Walks nicely on a leash - Prefers to explore and do her own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once she's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Tends to be an introvert around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of like-minded dog friends; may not be comfortable at dog parks or at large, dog-friendly events (dog intro recommended) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Story
Meet Bruce. He is a two year old, 45 ish lb pittie mix looking for a place to call his own. He was surrendered to us, no fault of his own. He is potty and kennel trained and rides well in the car. He pulls some on a leash but is improving. We have introduced him to a couple of dogs so far and he has done well. His adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in meeting Bruce, please fill out the application on our website. www.foreverhomedogs.orgAll adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.

Story
Hello, I'm Chatter! A name that suits me to a T, because I love to chat. I'm a sweet, friendly, curious, funny, and smart pooch. I can be a tempermental guy, but it's all part of my charm. I'm not just a one-note dog, I've got layers! Sure, I might grumble a bit when I don't get my way, but a few scratches behind the ear and I'm all smiles again. I'm looking for a family that can match my energy and love me, temper and all. So, why should you adopt me? Well, with me, life will never be dull. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2017631##
