Fezz....how do we even begin to describe a dog like him?? He is large and in charge, weighing in at an impressive (impressive is probably not the right word?) 87 pounds. He's big and happy and friendly and snorty, but he's also strong and stubborn so he needs someone who can physically manage him. This behavior becomes the most pronounced when he has attached himself to his favorite toy-of-the-day; he resource-guards it until the thrill wears off so staff has learned to leave him alone while he gets it out of his system. When the adrenaline has subsided, the chosen toy is left in shambles and he's ready to socialize once again. He is very motivated....for attention, for toys, for SQUEAKER toys, for food.....as long as it's not fruit. This man won't miss a meal but he draws the line at the healthy stuff! Fezzik loves all the outdoor things, too....playing in the water, rolling around in the grass, army-crawling to scratch his belly on the ground. You know, normal dog things?! :) He does take Cosequin daily for a limp we've noticed over the summer, we presume from being so active outside and (ahem) overweight. Staff reports that he's a leg lifter outside, that he does the cutest little tap dance when he's excited, and that he's pretty easy to please and entertain. Fezz would be a great companion for someone who can handle a big lug like him and can read his cues and give him space when he wants it.Commands: knows the "sit," "stop" Loves: walks, sniffing, playing in the water, playing along the fenceline with other dogs, being outside and rolling around in the grass. Leash Manners: Not hard to leash, easy to walk. Will pull a bit when he wants something but responds to correction. Good with other dogs?: He seems interested in them when outside in the play yard but we haven't done any playgroups. Adoption Fee: $100Estimated Date of Birth: 4/6/2020Intake Reason: Transfer from Stark County, original intake as strayAnimal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. If their kennel card on display at TAPS shelter facility is marked as unaltered, the animal will be altered prior to being released for adoption. Animal stage may change from time to time based on surgery and medical status. TAPS strives to keep kennel cards as up to date as possible with current information but from time to time, information may change and a new kennel card may be pending. Full and current vaccination schedule and medical records along with any behavioral disclosures will be provided at time of adoption.
