Story
Hey-ya, I'm Spanky! I'm a cute, stocky little low rider, who is waiting ever so patiently to find my forever home! Short walks in the shade? Low-key snuggles on the couch? Yes, please! I was brought to the shelter when I was left behind by my owner. I'm not letting this get me down, though, and have lots of love to offer to the people who bring me into their home! I am fully grown at my current 48 pounds since I'm about 3 years young, but I don't think pictures will do my adorable self justice! If you're looking for a happy go lucky little dude to bring home with you, come meet me!   Have Room in Your Home? Welcoming in a pet saves your new pet's life and creates space for another pet to get a chance! Not sure if Spanky would be the best fit for you? Send in a generic app! Our team will work with you to find a pet to best fit your lifestyle! You will go home with a starter bag of food, one month of flea and heartworm prevention, and also have 90 DAYS of training help included with your adoption, if needed! Story
We just recently adopted Tyson (5 years old) as a playmate for our 2 year old olde English bulldogge but our 12 year old beagle will not stop going after him since the first day and it caused him to lunge after our bulldog multiple times since then and they haven’t trusted each other since. He may be great with other dogs but previous owner said he never lived either dogs, so with a little more training he could be a great playmate. Other than being a little hyper he is extremely sweet, loves giving kisses, not food aggressive, house/crate trained and good with kids according to previous owner. Most importantly, he hasn’t gotten into or torn a single thing up since he’s been here from day 1. I can guarantee Tyson would be the best dog you could ask for if he was the only dog in your household.

Story
Dominic is a human on four legs. He is an agreeable, loving pet looking to please his owner as he looks for direction on how to best serve you. When he is not looking for direction he is trying to cuddle, lick, hug, or just be near you. With all this love and intelligence comes a level of curiosity of “what are you doing with that…” to “what is this to eat?” Unfortunately, he is a scared of other cats and dogs. his catlike mohawk and curled rigid tale will indicate his fear, his natural animalistic prey tendencies infiltrate his big ‘ol head. Because of this, he needs to be redirected before he starts to bark, whimper, shake or pull on a leash or when he is enjoying himself watching life exist through a window or door. For this reason, I’ve have been working on training him with various commands such as sit, stay, off, wait, turn, leave it, let’s go, roll over, with me (to redirect pulling on walks), heel, and let’s make a deal (paw handshake). Very food motivated and opportunist.

Story
Age:6 Weight: 75 Location: Hagerstown, MD Nicknames: Pauliewogs, Paulie D, Piddly Diddly Doo Good with other dogs?: No, must be the only dog in the house. Although Paulie has lived with another dog before, he is dog reactive and needs to be the only dog in the house. Good with cats? no Good with children? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with kids under 10 Activity Preference: Needs a couple walks a day., Needs in-house activities, Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Will go with the flow, Champion couch potato IQ: Smart Paulie's favorite things: Paulie loves car rides, treats, meal time, hanging on the couch with his humans, belly rubs, laying in the sun, walks to sniff around the neighborhood, sitting in a window to keep eyes on the neighborhood, especially from the SQUIRRELS! Paulie is good at: meeting people, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, walking on a leash, following commands Ideal home: no children, quiet environment, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, Lots of exercise opportunities Training Needs: Health issues: None About: Paulie is literally “man’s best friend”. He has not met a human he did not like. He thrives off of human attention and loves quality time cuddling on the couch or just being by your side. He is a great supervisor. He is a couch potato but gets spurts of energy and is always up for a walk. Paulie is extremely smart and picks up tricks and training so fast! He is food motivated so training has been easy. He loves treats and is gentle 90% of the time (10% when he is super excited he grabs quick, but not ‘biting quick’). Paulie also loves breakfast and dinner time, so his day revolves around meal time. Paulie can be mischievous so when he’s unattended he needs to be in his crate to keep him safe. He loves chasing squirrels in the backyard, and the occasional zoomie run around the yard too! Paulie is a big love bug and just wants to be your best friend. He loves his spot on the couch looking out the window keeping an eye on the neighborhood for Squirrel Patrol. Paulie does get overstimulated with new experiences, so a routine and slowly introducing him to different things works best.To be considered for adoption, you must apply using our free, online application. Our dogs are fostered in our volunteers' homes, not in a central shelter/location. Only approved applicants are put into contact with the foster family to setup a meeting with the foster dog.
