Story
Clyde is a very sweet dog but unfortunately began going blind about 4 years ago (he is 8 now). He is totally blind now and can now be a very fearful dog especially around children. I have 3 children and he does fine around my family but not if they have friends over. We have been trying to train him for months as well as medicate. He still barks and growls when children are over to play. He really needs a child free home. He is not great with cats either as he likes to chase them, however he does ok with our cat. He also has occasional seizure like episodes that don't really affect him other than a couple minutes while the episode is occurring. Otherwise he is a very sweet and beautiful dog who loves to cuddle and lick and he still loves hiking and running on the beach even though he can't see. He is a very loyal dog who respects his owner.

Saint is friendly with people and loves to be part of the action, whether that’s a vigorous hike or a fun play session. Meet Salome, a vibrant and affectionate dog who’s ready to find her forever home. Salome is great with people and has a loving personality, but she’s very reactive to other dogs, so she would thrive in a home where she’s the only pet. Salome is house-trained and has no medical concerns. She was found as a stray and is now looking for a new family who can provide her with the love and care she deserves. She’s an adventurous spirit who loves exploring, going for walks, and hitting the trails for hikes. If you’re seeking a loyal and playful companion who will thrive in a dog-free environment, Salome is eager to share her zest for life and become a cherished part of your family.

Story
Meet Tiger, an energetic 8-month-old Staffy mix pup with a zest for life! Rescued along with his brother when they were just 7 weeks old, Tiger was found as a stray before being brought to the shelter. Tiger is great with other dogs and thrives in a playful environment. He loves to play hard and has had some basic training, making him a fun and active companion. However, he’s not a fan of cats and would do best in a home without them. Tiger would be the perfect addition to a family with another active and playful dog or an active household that can keep up with his boundless energy. If you’re looking for a spirited and affectionate pup to join your family, Tiger might just be your new best friend!

Story
Hello, I'm Chatter! A name that suits me to a T, because I love to chat. I'm a sweet, friendly, curious, funny, and smart pooch. I can be a tempermental guy, but it's all part of my charm. I'm not just a one-note dog, I've got layers! Sure, I might grumble a bit when I don't get my way, but a few scratches behind the ear and I'm all smiles again. I'm looking for a family that can match my energy and love me, temper and all. So, why should you adopt me? Well, with me, life will never be dull. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2017631##

Story
Fiona is a love bug to say the least. I am heartbroken to need to rehome her, but she truly needs a sibling. Fiona is very anxious by herself but, if she has a furry friend to hang out with she is cool, calm, and collected. I, unfortunately do not have the means to have two dogs to get her a friend myself. She has such a sweet demeanor, good recall, and can go off leash where permitted. She is crate trained as well. I’ve never had a dog who will eat anything I give them but, Fif is a living garbage disposal.
