Story
Hello, I'm Chatter! A name that suits me to a T, because I love to chat. I'm a sweet, friendly, curious, funny, and smart pooch. I'm a quick learner, you see. I seem to get along good with cats and other dogs. I'm a good boy who likes car rides and is potty-trained. If you're looking for a loyal companion who'll keep you entertained with my chatty antics, then I'm your guy! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2017631##

Story
Red Fern Friends, we desperately need your help This Senior girl is Miss Carmen She arrived in Colorado so long ago looking for her chance at redemption; for a loving human to help build her confidence and to know that she is safe and no one will hurt her.  Carmen has spent the majority of her life in BOARDING instead of a home 5 to 6 years with at least 2 years homeless. It breaks our hearts that we are STILL looking for this sweet senior her human. She had a foster to adopt for a few months recently that due to no fault of Carmen’s returned her due to unexpected life changes and not being capable to care for her.  Talk about heart shattering to try to explain to this sweet girl that our high hopes of her forever spot were no more after waiting so long.  Carmen NEEDS a Dedicated Foster to ADOPT. She will do best in a calm home environment with structure and love. No other dogs, cats, or children. She is fully vetted and current on all shots. All supplies can be provided to get going with fostering to ADOPT this sweet soul.  Please, help us with our underdogs that have been overlooked. There are no bad dogs, but there are to many that have been let down by humans and that is our Carmen. Boarding is anywhere from $35.00 a day and upwards from there. Boarding is not meant to be a permanent solution because the dogs do not thrive rather, they regress in heartbreak.  She needs her missing puzzle piece and I just know they are out there looking for her too.  Redfernanimalrescue.org/adopt #Fortheloveofcarmen#Seniordogsrule ##1853279##

Story
Sweet, affectionate, and playful Mocha needs a family! She was rescued 2 years ago from a kill shelter after being dumped in a rural area and has been in my care! Mocha is about 4-5 years old, super friendly, and a love bug! She is great with humans, and she is good with other dogs. She does have a high prey drive and would need an experienced confident owner to handle her. She is very social and would do good with a family, or active owner. She loves to run around and play, but she is also very, very content just hanging out, cuddling, or lying in the sun. She’s good on walks, at the dog park, playing in the creek, or on road trips. She acts like a puppy! If you're looking for a beautiful, loving American Staffordshire, she could be your girl!  Contact defrancia.c@gmail.com 720.272.0776     This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. Please contact the email listed in this post. November 6, 2024, 12:43 pm

Story
Earning 11-month-old Petunia’s trust takes time and patience. This shy 26-pound black beauty is slowly adjusting to the safety of her foster home and remains a bit reserved as she gets used to her new surroundings. Naturally sweet, Petunia has begun to enjoy cuddling with her foster dad and is becoming more comfortable with being picked up, finding it more pleasurable each day. Her favorite activity, though, is playing with her doggy foster siblings of various sizes and ages, especially enjoying backyard playtime with one in particular. Although she likes going for walks, Petunia is still gaining confidence with her harness and leash. She pays little attention to the resident cats and has a soft spot for dog biscuits. While she hasn’t yet learned any commands, she’s motivated by food and affection, is crated only for mealtime, and is working hard on her house-training. To truly help Petunia blossom, she needs a nurturing home with patient adopters and older children who can help build her confidence, continue her socialization, and guide her through training, including learning commands. With the right care, Petunia is sure to thrive and live her best life. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $425. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Meet Gigi, a sweet and gentle 3.5-year-old Staffy/Lab mix who’s ready to find her forever home. Gigi was rescued from a high-kill shelter along with her four puppies, all of whom have since found their new families. Now, it's Gigi’s turn to find a loving home where she can truly thrive. Gigi is great with people, though she can be a bit shy at first. She’s well-behaved on a leash, although she may react to other dogs while out and about. Despite this, Gigi lives comfortably with other dogs and has no medical concerns. With her calm demeanor and loving nature, Gigi is looking for a patient and caring home where she can continue to blossom. If you’re ready to offer Gigi the love and security she deserves, she’s eager to share her affection and become a cherished member of your family.
