Story
Trixie was rescued by one of our advocates who told us the following story: Trixie was purchased as a 6 week old puppy from a breeder in mexico for a large sum of money. The new owner loved her until she started growing. As she grew it became apparent her front leg was deformed. At that point he told our advocate that she is not what he paid for and he was going to throw her on the street. Thankfully our advocate intervened! Trixie is very playful and loving! She has excellent mobility despite her front paw being deformed. She loves lounging in the sun and getting lots of treats!

Story
Noodle is a quiet cuddle bug - a 65 lb lap dog who rarely barks and loves to nap. We adopted Noodle in 2021 from an animal shelter where he had been surrendered by a family that could not afford his eye surgery after a dog attacked him. He has fully healed - he is just always winking 😉. Because he lost his eye to another dog, we are always cautious with him around other dogs since he can get scared if he feels threatened- but he rarely even barks at dogs through our fence. He loved our old cat and learned from the cat’s swipes when to stop playing or chasing him. We have a toddler and a baby on the way and just struggle to manage his wants and needs alongside theirs. He would do better with older kids. We want to find a home that can provide Noodle the love and attention he deserves.

Story
Bowie's former owner could no longer care for him so now he's at the shelter at the most important stage of his development! Bowie is a super fun, incredibly playful, sweet guy. He will thrive in a home that can provide plenty of exercise, fun, and cuddles, along with positive training and reinforcement. He's working on perfecting his leash skills and four on the floor. Bowie's smile and energy are infectious! NO CATS If Bowie's the one for you, then come meet him during our walk-in hours Friday and Saturday or by appointment Monday through Thursday, 11-3. Adoption fees are $50 and include microchip, neuter, and all up-to-date vaccinations. Adoptions are always free for veterans. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Turk is the epitome of adorable! Turk is estimated to be around 3 months old and is a bundle of fun! He lives for food, and if you have treats you have his full attention. He loves to be the center of attention and is always front and center when people visit him and his siblings. He is still learning all the ropes of how to be a good boy and needs a family dedicated to working on all his training. Turk weighs about 25-30lbs now and we estimate he will be at least 60-70lbs when fully grown. Turk came to us with his three siblings from a partner rescue, BONES. BONES is located in a rural part of Northern California and works to help the large population of stray and feral dogs in their area. Turk and his siblings were found without their mom on the nearby Native American reservation. BONES took them in and then they were transferred to us so they could find their fur-ever homes. These kiddos need individual homes so they can get the one-on-one time they need. Turk is the biggest and most confident of the group. He is the big goofball who loves to romp around and has learned that chest and back scratches can be pretty great. He is still learning all of his basic manners and needs a large-dog-experienced family to help him continue to learn. He is a smart boy and quickly learned to sit. He would be a great candidate for group puppy classes. Turk has done well meeting other dogs and we think he would love to have another playful large dog in his new home. He also could do well as an only dog with lots of opportunities to socialize with dog friends. Turk would do best in a kitty-free. He would do best with a family with teenagers or an adult-only home. Turk has mostly been an outdoor dog but is looking for a family who will make him a member of the family and will want him to be an indoor dog. He hasn't had any house or crate training, so will need a patient family who will be willing to work on that with him. Turk is such a big, lovable pup and he can't wait to find his fur-ever family. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Turk's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org.
