Story
Smokey is an incredibly caring dog, and has bonded to me quite quickly and loves playing tug-o-war and afternoon walks. He loves siting at the edge of the couch and having his head scratched, and tearing into a new toy. Though he craves human affection, he has shown that he growls at new men, and has protection issues from Other dogs around toys. The ideal home for Smokey would be a household with no other dogs, and familiar visitors only. He listens well around the house, is good with commands, and is very treat oriented. He also poops exclusively on bushes, and quite literally gives hugs in an effort for affection. I can keep Smokey homed until his forever owner comes along and am happy to take him back if for what ever reason he doesn’t work out for you.

Story
Turk is the epitome of adorable! Turk is estimated to be around 3 months old and is a bundle of fun! He lives for food, and if you have treats you have his full attention. He loves to be the center of attention and is always front and center when people visit him and his siblings. He is still learning all the ropes of how to be a good boy and needs a family dedicated to working on all his training. Turk weighs about 25-30lbs now and we estimate he will be at least 60-70lbs when fully grown. Turk came to us with his three siblings from a partner rescue, BONES. BONES is located in a rural part of Northern California and works to help the large population of stray and feral dogs in their area. Turk and his siblings were found without their mom on the nearby Native American reservation. BONES took them in and then they were transferred to us so they could find their fur-ever homes. These kiddos need individual homes so they can get the one-on-one time they need. Turk is the biggest and most confident of the group. He is the big goofball who loves to romp around and has learned that chest and back scratches can be pretty great. He is still learning all of his basic manners and needs a large-dog-experienced family to help him continue to learn. He is a smart boy and quickly learned to sit. He would be a great candidate for group puppy classes. Turk has done well meeting other dogs and we think he would love to have another playful large dog in his new home. He also could do well as an only dog with lots of opportunities to socialize with dog friends. Turk would do best in a kitty-free. He would do best with a family with teenagers or an adult-only home. Turk has mostly been an outdoor dog but is looking for a family who will make him a member of the family and will want him to be an indoor dog. He hasn't had any house or crate training, so will need a patient family who will be willing to work on that with him. Turk is such a big, lovable pup and he can't wait to find his fur-ever family. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Turk's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
Puppy Reese is irresistibly sweet! Reese is estimated to be around 3 months old and is the sweetest boy! He lives for food, and if you have treats, you have his full attention. He is a sweet and sensitive guy who is looking for a dedicated family to help him blossom. He is still learning all the ropes of how to be a good boy and needs a family who is committed to continuing to work on all his training. Reese weighs about 25-30lbs now, and we estimate he will be at least 60-70lbs when fully grown. Reese came to us with his three siblings from a partner rescue, BONES. BONES is located in a rural part of Northern California and works to help the large population of stray and feral dogs in their area. Reese and his siblings were found without their mom on the nearby Native American reservation. BONES took them in and then they were transferred to us so they could find their fur-ever homes. These kiddos need individual homes so they can get the one-on-one time they need. Reese is the smallest of the boys and the sweetheart of the group. While he can be shy meeting new people, once he warms up he is such an affectionate pup who loves to lean into for attention. He needs a large-dog-savvy family, ideally, who have had experience with dogs who need to gain confidence. He is a smart boy and quickly learned to sit. He would be a great candidate for group puppy classes. For his age, Reese is pretty mellow and seems like he will be a moderate-energy pup as an adult. Reese has done well meeting other dogs and we think he would do best with another dog in the home to help mentor him. Reese has done well meeting the cats in his foster home and could do well living with dog-savvy cats in his new home with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Reese has done well living with older kids and could be a wonderful addition to a family with respectful older kids or an adult only home.. Reese has been doing great with his house-training, but is still learning and needs consistent training. He does great in his crate and is happy to hang out in there when his foster family is gone and overnight. Reese has never been truly alone since he has always been with his siblings, so he would do best with a family who have a schedule that would allow them to slowly acclimate him to being home alone. Reese is such a darling little man and we know his perfect fur-ever family is out there. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!     Reese's adoption fee is $350.    Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. Story
NEEDS HOME ASAP! Dahlia is a very good dog. She is intelligent, energetic and affectionate 3 year old pitty mix (Staffy, Apbt, Shepherd). She's up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. She's *very smart. Picks up on commands quickly. Is motivated by food and play. She has a large vocabulary and communicates with petfluent buttons. She is a strong chewer, plays well with durable toys and doesn't damage household items/understands what is hers. She plays well with other dogs that she is familiar with, but can sometimes be overly excited around new dogs. She is reactive to unfamiliar people/dogs at home or in the car, and will need continued training with barrier anxiety. She is calm, friendly and affectionate to people/dogs in neutral environments or after gentle introduction. She has been muzzle trained and wears/puts them on comfortably. She is an athletic/high energy dog. She would love a secure yard. She wants to explore outside and then be curled up with her people.

Story
Lady is 5 years old. I adopted her from Gridley, CA when she was a puppy with my ex-husband at the time. I am looking to rehome her because I am currently a full time college student in graduate school obtaining my doctorates. After my separation with my ex-husband, it became difficult to care for Lady on my own. My father, who was looking out for her while I am in school went through surgery recently. Due to his condition and old age, he is no longer able to take care of her. My schedule does not allow me to give Lady enough time to care for her, that she wholeheartedly deserves. She is a wonderful and loving dog. She listens well and easily warms up to people.
