Story
Sofia turned 1 during October of 2024. I got her when she was 2 months old through a foster program with the humane society. I am trying to find a good home for her because I feel she needs a more active owner who can match her energy and playfulness. She can be destructive when bored so lots toys or outside time to play are a must. She does have a bed of her own which she knows is hers, but she is also a cuddle bug which means she will lean on you for pets and snuggle right next to you in bed if you let her. She will have a conversation with you and does the cutest awooos. She can play with dogs but I feel her being a solo pet would be better. She is a guard dog at heart so she will bark when necessary. She is house trained and will not go potty in the house. However, we do allow her on the couch so if that's not something you prefer you might need to train her out of it. Overall, I'm looking for a family that can share all their love with her because she will return it tenfold.

Story
Sweet Edna is about 4 years old. When we rescued her we thought she was a senior because she was slow to move and had trouble getting up. Then our vet said she was only about 4 during her exam. We also realized her arthritis suddenly got better! About a month after rescuing her she had a very aggressive seizure. We took her to the ER , got her stabilized and she is now on seizure meds for Epilepsy. We then realized this was probably why her former owners dumped her and why she had separation anxiety😢 Despite everything she’s been through she is still the absolute sweetest girl ever. She gives bear hugs and nuzzles for kisses. She constantly wants to talk about all the love she has to give🥹 she is potty trained and great with other dogs. We want a family where someone is always around to be with her. Imagine how many times she had to go through this ALONE!💔💔💔No wonder she gets separation anxiety🥺 We also want to make sure if there is another dog in the home and she happens to have another seizure that they would not react or try to attack her to stop the chaos. Although she was able to walk on her own after the seizure subsided, She is a giant breed dog so if a situation like this were to come up again and she needs to be carried out into the car , she needs an adopter who has the capacity to help move her around. Although her seizures may be stabilized for a long time, potentially forever , this will always be an underlying medical issue and her future adopters MUST be ready and equipped to take on this financial undertaking as well. Her monthly expenses for food , supplements, medication etc will not be cheap. She is not spayed due to the seizures and we dont know if we will be able to spay her as anesthesia is very risky with her condition. All this being said , this girl is truly special. She is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever met and anyone who meets her instantly falls in love. Please reach out with any questions if interested in adopting this sweet girl.

Story
Your Gentle Giant Looking for Love! Hello there, I'm Hippo, a 5-year-old Bull Mastiff mix, a big boy at 87 lbs, and neutered. I was pulled from the Riverside shelter by TAP and I am so grateful for that! I have picked up bathroom manners, working on leash manners. I have separation  anxiety and current medications to help with separation anxiety include Trazodone (~$7.00), Gabapentin (~$13.00), Acepromazine as needed (~$25.00), and Prozac (~$5.00). Monthly cost depending on where purchased and market value.  I may look imposing at first glance, but once you get to know me, you'll see I'm the sweetest and most loveable companion you could ever ask for. I love affection, and snuggling up next to my humans is one of my favorite pastimes. I'm generally friendly with other dogs, but I might need a slow introduction to make sure we're all on the same page. When I'm inside the house, I sometimes get a bit anxious and bark at people passing by, but don't worry – once we're outside, I'll mostly be an observer, calmly taking in the world around me. I can show some leash reactivity though. With some patience, understanding, and positive reinforcement training, I'm sure I can overcome this behavior. I adore outdoor adventures and walks, but I can get a little distracted if there's too much going on around me. I find night walks with minimal distractions to be the best for me. That way, I can focus on our quality time together without getting overwhelmed by everything happening around us. One of my quirks is that I like to playfully bite ankles and wrists when I want to wake you up or just engage in some playtime. I promise it's all in good fun! But for this reason, a family with older kids or adults might be a better fit for me. I would absolutely love a fun-loving home with a yard! Having a safe and secure place to play and explore would make me one happy pup! I'm quite adaptable, so whether you lead an active lifestyle or prefer a more laid-back approach, I'll fit right in. Just as long as I get plenty of love and attention, I'll be content. So, are you ready to open your heart and home to a gentle giant like me? I guarantee that with a little understanding, patience, and love, I'll be the most loyal and loving companion you could ever wish for. Let's embark on this incredible journey together, creating unforgettable memories and forging an unbreakable bond. ##1733826##

Story
How this pet arrived: Skylar was brought in by a community member. Why Skylar might be the one for you: Skylar with his furrowed brow, concerned look and a face that will melt your heart is waiting for his person(s). We have learned that Skylar is one faithful guy. Playing the field is not his style. He prefers "his" staff to come to him in the morning and care for him . With "his" staff, he gets all wiggly and gives lots of kisses while being leashed to go out. While being walked, he keep a close eye on "his" staff because he does not want to venture far from them. His bond to his human will be strong and enduring. A few good humans (maybe even only one), sweet baby talk, many treats, warm places to nap and lots of reassurance will make Skylar a very happy guy. He will want to stay by your side and live your life with you. He will not like to be left alone for long periods. He is not interested in finding out if the grass is greener on the other side. He wants your side and that is where he will stay. Look at his face. Can you resist? If not, come to our shelter and ask to meet Skylar. At SDHS:Skylar has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered. and is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Brindle Weight: 90 Age: 1yrs 0mths 3wks
