Story
How this pet arrived: Bosco was brought in by a community member on 10/1/2024. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Bosco! This great big young guy might be a bit shy at first and gets a little scared in doorways and with new situations. Being patient and slow with him at first will go a long way to help Bosco feel trusting. Bosco had right FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery on 10/29/24. To support proper healing, it's essential to keep them rested for the next 10-14 days, until 11/12/24. During this time, avoid any off-leash activity, rough play, running, or jumping. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Bosco is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 78.8 Age: 1yrs 7mths 0wks

Story
Your Gentle Giant Looking for Love! Hello there, I'm Hippo, a 5-year-old Bull Mastiff mix, a big boy at 87 lbs, and neutered. I was pulled from the Riverside shelter by TAP and I am so grateful for that! I have picked up bathroom manners, working on leash manners. I have separation  anxiety and current medications to help with separation anxiety include Trazodone (~$7.00), Gabapentin (~$13.00), Acepromazine as needed (~$25.00), and Prozac (~$5.00). Monthly cost depending on where purchased and market value.  I may look imposing at first glance, but once you get to know me, you'll see I'm the sweetest and most loveable companion you could ever ask for. I love affection, and snuggling up next to my humans is one of my favorite pastimes. I'm generally friendly with other dogs, but I might need a slow introduction to make sure we're all on the same page. When I'm inside the house, I sometimes get a bit anxious and bark at people passing by, but don't worry – once we're outside, I'll mostly be an observer, calmly taking in the world around me. I can show some leash reactivity though. With some patience, understanding, and positive reinforcement training, I'm sure I can overcome this behavior. I adore outdoor adventures and walks, but I can get a little distracted if there's too much going on around me. I find night walks with minimal distractions to be the best for me. That way, I can focus on our quality time together without getting overwhelmed by everything happening around us. One of my quirks is that I like to playfully bite ankles and wrists when I want to wake you up or just engage in some playtime. I promise it's all in good fun! But for this reason, a family with older kids or adults might be a better fit for me. I would absolutely love a fun-loving home with a yard! Having a safe and secure place to play and explore would make me one happy pup! I'm quite adaptable, so whether you lead an active lifestyle or prefer a more laid-back approach, I'll fit right in. Just as long as I get plenty of love and attention, I'll be content. So, are you ready to open your heart and home to a gentle giant like me? I guarantee that with a little understanding, patience, and love, I'll be the most loyal and loving companion you could ever wish for. Let's embark on this incredible journey together, creating unforgettable memories and forging an unbreakable bond. ##1733826##
