Story
Leia is a beautiful sweet 9-year-old. Through no fault of her own, she had to leave the only home she's ever knew for 9 yrs. Once she decompressed in her foster's home, it became clear she is a sweet and intelligent cat. She is a mix of  Snowshoe (Siamese and domestic short-haired) along with a little bit of calico. Leia is very affectionate and loves to be with her person.  She's a great companion for watching TV or reading on the couch and will sleep on top of you if you let her. Leia is young at heart and loves to play with her wand toy and watch the birds and squirrels outside her window. Like many Siamese she has the beautiful blue eyes and enjoys talking to you. While she was raised with two other cats, after a couple of months in the foster home, she still has not acclimated to other animals. As as a result, it would be best if she was the only princess of the house. She honestly will make a great companion for anyone looking for a kitty who wants to give and receive love. Story
Hi, I’m Hobbes and I want to share my story. I was in a home before I was surrendered to Texas CARES. It was my one and only home and I was the star of the house, that is, until my family had a baby. After that, it seems I was set aside. The wonderful people at Texas CARES took me into their rescue but that is not where my story ends. You see, I am a very special boy and have had some pretty big ups and downs. In my foster home, I was having such a time using my litter box and no one could seem to figure out why I was going outside of it. They took me to the vet, where they ran tests and more tests. That wasn’t fun, because I am not a huge fan of going into the carrier (I told foster mom all about it on the ride) but I knew it was for my own good. My foster mom, along with the medical team, tried several different things. My food was changed, my foster mom used extra litter boxes, but I still would go outside the box. There was even a time where I heard talk of euthanasia. I’m not sure what that is but it sure didn’t sound good! I know my foster mom was so frustrated and really wanted to help me, but it was tough. Finally, foster mom and the medical team, along with the vets, started me on some different antibiotics and some medicine to help with my mental state. This seemed to be what was needed for me because I now use the litter box each and every time I need to go! So, you see, it took a little time, but I am finally ready to seek out a forever home. I will have to be on my special food, which helps prevent crystals in my urine, and I may have to be on my mental meds long term, but I take them like a champ. In fact, I don’t even think it’s medicine because it looks and tastes like a chicken treat. I enjoy my prescription food as well! I do get along with dogs and I have met my foster mom's cats but honestly, I’d probably prefer just to have my very own human to myself. I won’t be going up to the adoption center, so if you’d like to meet me and have a chat, my foster family will make arrangements for you to meet me! I really hope you will take a chance on me because I am a really wonderful boy and I am ready to be your best friend!  Medical:  Special Diet - He is now on CD Urinary food both dry and wet. Fluoxetine - Compounded Treat Chews - ordered monthly and delivered to his home. November 5, 2024, 8:53 pm

Story
Skye is one half of a bonded pair with Rosie (Rosedale). Rosie Skyes are in your future if two furry family members are what you seek. Skye is a striking tabby who is petite and leggy like a Broadway hoofer. She is flighty like an ingénue and needs her Rosie to ground her. Rosie helps clear away stormy clouds from the sweet Skye so the world is a rosier place for them both. They can fill your world with love and playful joy if you choose them to be your beloveds. 5/3/2021 Skye was trapped in River Oaks as part of a feral colony at a teacher’s house. Story
Dara and her 2 siblings were left on the shady doorstep of a local vet in a box in early June. The vet tech that found them noticed a car at the far end of the parking lot. It left as soon as she picked up the box. Inside there were 3 dirty hungry kittens. There was a note inside from a finder who described herself as an elderly woman. She wrote that they appeared in her yard with no mama in sight. She said she had called multiple rescues and shelters but all were full. She said there was no way she could care for them and knew they needed care she couldn't afford. She hated to leave them anonymously but was fearful she would be turned away if she tried to deliver them in person. Born 5/10/2024 Dara’s brothers were free-spirited extroverts but Dara was a little more reserved. She watches before she joins in with her siblings or her humans. One day while I was doing kitty chores I realized she was scoping out the situation, wondering what on earth I was doing and debating whether to join in the fun. Unusually, the other fosters were elsewhere in the house and before I knew it she was doing battle with the broom, playing keep away with the mop, and dropping toy mice into the mop bucket. She continued to “work” along side me that afternoon but when I stopped for a break she too rested from her toils, crawling up into my lap, purring, and rubbing her face on mine. It was such a sweet glimpse into her nature and to see how much she enjoys one on one time. It would be easy to judge the woman who found Dara and her siblings and say she could have done more but at least she chose to not simply ignore these hot, weak, helpless babies. We are blessed as their fosters to have the resources she did not have. We wish she could see them now. Story
Rupi is a gorgeous Siamese mix. True to her breed she is a bit stand-off-ish. You must earn her trust. She loves laying around on tables to soak up your smiles and praise. She is not a cuddle bug. I do not recommend having her around children or hyper animals. All she needs from you is food, a clean litter box and your adoration. She is quiet. Rupi has a cat friend here, Claire de Lune, whom she loves playing with. They chase each other and play hockey by swatting balls and toy mice all over the place. Born 3/11/2024 Rupi has really come out of her shell with Claire. They are ying and yang, complimenting each other nicely. Both sleep on my bed at night. Go read about Claire de Lune and see if you can find it in your heart to adopt them together. If you are interested in them, please contact my rescue family at MeowtownAR@gmail.com to arrange a meeting with my foster home!
