Story
Grumpy and Happy are a pair of bonded kitties, both around 1 year old, and they are ready to bring holiday cheer to their new home! Grumpy was named after the internet-famous kitty with similar markings. In actuality, he is closer to the personality of Dopey in the Snow White fairytale. Grumpy loves wet food and snacks, and will jump and pounce for toys and emit a steady purr while being pet and even just standing next to you hoping for affection. This adorable guy allows us to pick him up and hold him like a baby and will also sit on our lap. Happy is very playful and would perhaps be better named Bashful. We first connected with her through play, and she throws all 5 pounds of her little kitten body into wrestling with Grumpy and chasing wand toys. Over time, this pretty girl is growing braver and after 6 weeks with us she now enjoys getting pets from us.Both of these sweet kitties came from an outdoor cat colony in Columbia Heights with 40+ cats. We started helping care for these cats back in August, when we learned that the person living in the home was in the hospital and many of the cats needed food and Vet care.Grumpy and Happy are often found napping or playing together. They are adjusting well to the sounds of indoor life: computers, music playing, and people talking around them. As formerly outdoor kitties, they are very curious to look out the windows and watch the world go by from their cozy perch. Their new family will need patience, as they help these sweethearts continue to adapt. Grumpy and Happy get along well with other cats; we don't know about dogs or kids at this point. These cats might be littermates, or cousins; however they are related, it's clear that they are BFFs. They are both in good health. Grumpy's left eye produces some discharge, and we give him lysine powder in his wet food that helps with this condition. Boosting his immune system prevents squinting; his forever people should be committed to helping him with this treatment. These two have been through a lot, and are so ready to gain trust, grow in confidence, and enjoy all the love and safety that the indoor life can provide. There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped.
