Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi, I’m Opie! I’m a 1-year-old Maltipoo, weighing in at just 7 pounds of fluff and potential. I’ve had a bit of a rough start and can be very scared of people and very skittish, but with patience, kindness, and time, I know I can learn to trust and blossom in the right home. Here’s what you should know about me: I’m happiest when I’m with other dogs, especially my confident furry friends who help me feel safe and teach me the ropes. I love wrestling with them, basking in the sun, and playing with my soft, stuffed toys. While I’m not big on most treats, I do have a weakness for homemade dehydrated beef liver—yum! I’m working really hard on trusting humans, but don’t really like to be touched right now. My foster parent has been helping me learn with gentle cuddle sessions, and I’m slowly making progress. I’m even starting to approach for play and hold their fingers in my mouth—though I still get scared if things move too fast. I do enjoy quiet, early morning tummy rubs, so there’s hope for more snuggles in the future! Potty training and leash training are still a work in progress for me, so I’ll need a secure, fenced yard in my forever home. I’m also a bit of an escape artist, so doors and gates will need to stay closed tight! At night, I’ve figured out my routine—I sleep best in a crate on the bed with the door open, where I can snuggle up near my favorite doggy friend. It makes me feel safe and calm. I know I’m not your average puppy—I need an experienced adopter who can be patient, gentle, and understanding. Having another confident dog in the house is a must for me. If you’re up for the challenge, I promise I’ll try my hardest to make you proud. Underneath my fear is a sweet, mischievous little pup just waiting to come out. Are you the one who can help me find my courage? *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Meet Buster: The Snuggle Enthusiast & Soft Toy Connoisseur Buster is a charming, easygoing pup with a deep love for all things soft—whether it’s a plush toy, a cozy blanket, or your lap. He’s got just the right mix of playful energy and laid-back vibes, making him the perfect companion for someone who enjoys both activity and cuddle sessions. When it comes to other dogs, Buster is a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. Big dogs? Cool. Small dogs? No problem. Hyper dogs, lazy dogs, loud dogs, quiet dogs—he’s not picky about his company. However, he is very serious about his soft toys and Nylabone chews. Those are his prized possessions, and he will proudly carry them around like tiny trophies. He’ll happily play with another dog if they’re a good match, but he’s just as content doing his own thing, chewing on his favorite toy while the world carries on around him. Now, Buster does have one little quirk—he’s got an unidentified allergy. We’re not sure what he’s allergic to (he’s keeping that secret to himself), but the only sign is that his eyes sometimes need a quick saline rinse. He doesn’t fuss about it, and we like to think he enjoys the mini spa treatment. Otherwise, he’s a happy, healthy boy with no other allergy symptoms. Buster would fit in just about anywhere. He’d be a great buddy for a home with other dogs, but he’d also be perfectly content as an only pet, soaking up all the love and attention. Whether he’s playing, lounging, or curling up next to you for a nap, one thing’s for sure—this sweet boy is ready to bring love, laughter, and a whole collection of soft toys into his forever home. Could that be with you?
