Meet Minnie! Minnie is a 1 year old, 11lb, seems to be purebred Shih Tzu. This affectionate girl is ready to find a loving home where she can truly shine.
Minnie’s journey hasn’t been the easiest. She was surrendered to a rural Texas shelter simply because her owner thought her eye "looked funny" and didn’t care enough to get her the help she needed. When she arrived, her left eye was severely damaged and causing her pain, so the best decision for her health and happiness was to have it removed.
Now fully healed, Minnie is adjusting beautifully to life with one eye! She may get a little startled if approached from her blind side, but her sweet and loving nature shines through. She just needs a little patience and understanding as she settles into her new home—especially after such a big transition from Texas to Colorado.
Minnie’s foster shared that she can be timid around men at first, so she would do best with a female adopter or someone willing to take the time to earn her trust (treats help!). With a little love and reassurance, she’ll be your most devoted companion.
While we don’t know if Minnie has had any formal training, she’s at a great age to learn! Positive reinforcement training helps build trust, confidence, and lifelong good behavior. Farfel’s requires adopters to commit to a training program—whether virtual or in-person—to ensure a successful transition for Minnie and her new family. We provide every adopter with recommendations for highly regarded, force-free trainers in your area.
Minnie is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and spayed.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
**PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Alfie please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!
