Stopping for a chat? Then say hello to Matt! This smushy-faced sweetheart is thought to have endured a life of hardship. When he was found, Matt was covered in fleas, missing a ton of hair and struggling to see through his crust-covered eyes. San Antonio Animal Care Services stepped in to help him, and when SNIPSA saw that he was available for intake, we couldn’t say no either! Matt is now on the road to recovery after being treated for the fleas and his resulting allergies. As a three-year-old Shih Tzu, we know that it won’t take long for him to find a forever home. Shih Tzu’s are popular dogs due to their small size and unique appearance. They are typically very friendly by nature, and Matt is no exception! This boy spends most of his time napping, people-watching and soaking in attention. Given time to adjust, more of his personality will surely begin to emerge. So, if you think you can offer Matt a new life of love and happiness, apply to meet him!

Hank is a 4-year-old Shih tzu weighing 15 pounds. He has a very handsome coat color combination. We can’t wait to see his coat grow out. It will be soft, shiny and very beautiful. Hank was rescued one Friday morning when someone called stating 3 awful looking dogs had been dumped in her front yard and the movers were there and she was pulling away at 5. All 3 dogs were in horrid condition. They were so heavily matted we could not tell the sex of any of them. Hank tolerated almost 2 hours of grooming. Surprisingly all 3 are quite well socialized. Hank is housebroken and has been using the dog door. He loves running in the yard with his furry friends while they look for a squirrel that left the area 10 minutes ago. Hank will need some work on leash walking. He rides well in the car as long as you are moving. Hank is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and has seen a vet. He is pending a dental as he has a couple of teeth the vet was concerned about. His adoption fee will be $350. If interested, please submit an application from www.poquitapawsrescue.org  ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Poquita Paws does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes spay/neutered, rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventrative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport to most states across the country. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Gizmo is a 10-year-old handsome Shih Tzu weighing 15 pounds who acts like he is 4 years old. This guy has a big personality. Gizmo was the leftover piece of a divorce that nobody wanted when they were contacted by information on the microchip. He was found running frantically door to door looking for something familiar. Gizmo was dirty, matted, very lost, and scared. After a few days rest and a spa treatment he was prancing around like the dandy that he is, while checking out visitors and his squeaky toys. He can jump on and off the couch to play fetch. He had done well with other small dogs in the group. He eats and sleeps in his kennel and often goes in voluntarily to rest. He is housebroken and walks on a leash with a halter. This boy who is a senior but doesn’t act like one would love to share his golden years with a fun family. Like so many ShihTzus he does have dry eye which has improved dramatically on eye drops but he may always need a drop in each eye 1-2 x day the rest of his life. He is neutered microchipped, vaccinated and Heartworm negative . His adoption fee is $250 If interested in meeting Gizmo, please submit an application from here.
