Story
Meet Teddy, a small fluffy Shih Tzu mix who is cute, cuddly, and full of sweetness. Teddy is one of a sibling pair with Bunny, and these two have clearly leaned on each other through big changes. Teddy weighs about 8.8 pounds and is about 2 years and 6 months old. Teddy came to Tracy’s Paws Rescue after being turned in by an owner to a city shelter. It was an odd situation because Teddy and Bunny were groomed when they arrived, yet they were clearly scared. The best part is that once they realized they were safe, their true personalities started to show. Teddy is very sweet and gets along with everybody. He is happiest when close to people and ready for a home that will offer comfort, routine, and a cool spot inside when the Texas weather does its thing. Teddy is heartworm negative and Chagas negative. Teddy will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, given flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and tested for Chagas before adoption. Teddy is located in Hondo, Texas. Story
Agnes is finally ready for adoption. And this one is very special to me. As many of you know, I have a soft spot for senior dogs. Honestly, I have a soft spot for all dogs — but when I see older dogs sitting in city-funded shelters, it always gives me a pit in my stomach. I start wondering… Did someone surrender them? Did they get lost? Did someone simply stop caring? That’s how I found Agnes at the Weslaco shelter. Her little body told a story I wish I never had to imagine. Agnes appeared to be around 10–12 years old, although that’s only our best guess since it’s clear she likely didn’t receive proper veterinary care throughout her life. She had several lipomas that needed to be removed, and she appears to be partially blind. But the thing that hurt me the most was the condition of her mouth. When I first picked her up, I could smell the infection immediately. Her mouth was filled with rotten teeth and pus. The pain this sweet dog must have been living with is almost unbearable to think about. Anyone who has ever had a toothache knows how painful it can be — and dogs feel that pain too. The difference is that Agnes didn’t just have one bad tooth. It was her entire mouth. Despite that, she was incredibly gentle and sweet. Since coming to Tracy’s Paws, Agnes has been fully cared for. She has been spayed, her lipomas have been removed, and unfortunately her teeth had to be removed as well. But the wonderful news is that she is now pain-free and much happier. As our veterinarian said, she is a very sweet, deserving little dog. Now Agnes is ready for the best part of her life — a soft couch, a warm lap, and a person who will love her the way she always deserved to be loved. She loves people, gets along well with others, and simply needs a place to belong. So if you have a soft spot for senior dogs… or if you know a kind-hearted person looking for a sweet companion… please consider Agnes. She has become one of our favorites here, and we cannot wait to see her finally living the comfortable, loved life she deserves.
