Story
Let me introduce you to Mr. Rocco, or as he is affectionately known as in his foster home. Mr. Rocco Taco. Rocco is a young adult dog, best guess is he is a Yorkie/Maltese mix or something similar to that. He is about 16-17 lbs.  Rocco absolutely adores the 10 year old child in the fosters home but any potential adopters need to have children with dog behavior knowledge. He does not want to be picked up by children, unless it is on his terms. He is great about giving signs that he is uncomfortable with a situation, you just need to pay attention to his body language.  Rocco is great and cuddly and just the cutest boy, but he needs to take time to trust his new family. He is not what I would call a shy dog at all, he loves all people, but he doesn’t aways trust everyone right away. Rocco absolutely needs positive reinforcement training due to his trust issues and will absolutely fall apart if you get upset with him. He’s a very sensitive boy who just wants to please his family. He would do great as an only dog or in a home with another dog who is not easily upset by other dogs. Rocco does believe he is the King, and he can be a bit bossy with other dogs. However, he is great at being redirected.  If you think you are the perfect fit for this boy, please apply at pawsonthegroundco.org.  October 23, 2024, 9:23 am

Story
Shaggy is a 3(ish) year old Shih Tzu.  Shaggy ended up in a high kill shelter in Texas a few weeks back.  He was dirty and matted at the time.  It's hard to know if he ever truly had a family of his own, or what his story is, just like so many.  Shaggy has now been in CO for a couple weeks.  He has been groomed, fully vetted, and is ready to find his forever family.   Shaggy is a good boy.  He gets along great with other dogs, does well with kids, and does well with cats.  He is friendly and easy going.  He will need someone who is going to be be willing to get him groomed every few months to keep him looking handsome and adorable.  Shaggy has been through a lot in his short life so far and just wants a fammily of his very own who will love him unconditionally, like he loves them.  If you are interested in adopting Shaggy, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2226465##

Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy that needs our help. Popcorn was one of these dogs that deserves, due to his excellent temperament and all the love he'll bring to a family, to have a wonderful home filled with pure love and nurturing. Popcorn is the kind of dog who, once comfortable in his environment, snuggles in close, loves you up and then puts his head on your shoulder breathing his warm breath. He's so sweet (while being initially a bit shy) and so very loving and irresistible that you can't help falling head over heels in love. Popcorn is a cute as can be 4 month old, 6 lb Maltese / West Highland White Terrier mix that is nothing but pure love. His estimated full grown weight is around 10-15 lbs. This pup is SO sweet and once acclimated to his new life, will be a friendly and engaging pup giving 100% of his heart to his new family. Popcorn was found as a stray in Arkansas, living in a bush with his mom and 4 other siblings. They were rescued and brought into a small shelter, and then booked a ticket to Colorado for a fresh start. Popcorn is now in a foster home in Colorado, waiting to find his forever family. Popcorn is a perfect size and weight to be able to accompany his favorite people everywhere a wonderful smaller dog is welcome. He will fit right into virtually every situation due to her great temperament and love of life. Our dream for this very loving dog is a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes him for life. As Popcorn becomes more and more comfortable in his forever home, he will blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more this sweetie pie will shine with his accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see Popcorn in a home that includes him in family time and activities (and some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a very smart and cooperative dog like Popcorn the skills to accompany his family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area. Popcorn is so much fun to watch as he puts his positive energy into enjoying the day with his beloved foster family. This little guy would do very well with a young family that works from a home-based office. He would bask in the attention and cuddles periodically throughout the day that this life-style offers. Popcorn will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 8 - 10 weeks) and great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are excellent protocols for longevity and coat care) to keep Popcorn's hair super- healthy, cottony-soft and matte-free. Popcorn is up to date on his shots, although will still require 1 more parvo booster as he gets a bit older, before it is safe to go out on public ground. He is not yet neutered, as he is too young. It’s been shown that neutering closer to 1 year old is better for the dog’s health. For this reason, we give any puppy under 1 until they are 1 year old to be neutered. Neuter is required by law to finalize any adoption, and Farfel’s Rescue covers the full cost of his neuter. Popcorn is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Popcorn please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
