Story
Rusty originally came to us because he was dumped, in a carrier with a red Chistmas ball attached to it, at Pet Supermarket. He was discovered near closing time. He was adopted. A year later I got a frantic call from his adopted yelling that she spent $350 at a vet( that we did not recommend), she was done with him. I told her to meet me at my vet with him now. When I arrived, the entire staff was already upset with owner. Rusty was in a room and owner already signed paperwork to have him put down. He was given the 1st of 2 injections. Owner put him in my arms and left. Like left the building, left the parking lot. I looked into his eyes. I could not do this. I was in tears. He was not ready to leave. I called my rescue sisters for advise. Rusty had a urinary blockage. Owner had recently had him shaved. ( It was winter!!!) In some cats, intense, ongoing stress can cause physical issues. That was the case for Rusty. My rescue sisters and I were all in agreement, if our vet could reverse the 1st shot we'd do whatever it took to heal his body and heart. I never ran so fast to get one if the vet techs yo take Rusty in the back to the vet to begin healing him. He was in the hospital 3 days and reblocked. We took him back. I rang in the New Year with Rusty at Veterinary Emergency Center of East Volusia 2023. He has since been in a loving home but due to owner health issues he needs to find a new home. He is exceptionally loving and affectionate, has not had any health issues but is not fond of dogs. 386-795-0449 ADOPT KONA!!! Yes two cats in this post and yes can be adopted separately … This adoption is NOT through Furry Nation Salvation and is a Courtesy Post. Please call the individual listed below with any further questions or to set up a time to meet the pet. Thank you. Please call/text this number if interested: 386-795-0449 Cats are located in this city: Port Orange Cat’s Name: Lucky and Kona Cat’s Age & Sex: Lucky is a tabby and white female cat and approximately 8 years old . Kona is Siamese mix approximately 8 years old and female. Cat’s vetting history (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped): Lucky and Kona are both fixed. And vaccinated. Unknown if chipped. Animals story: (where found and reason for wanting to rehome): Both Lucky and Kona were rescued by my brother as kittens. He passed away unexpectedly 6 years ago and my father took them in. They were his world. Unfirtunately my father passed away in October and now I have them. I have 3 rescues of my own and 5 cats is just too many for me. Personality (shy, social, likes to be held, lap cat? Likes or dislikes): Lucky (tabby and white) loves LOTS of attention, kisses and pets. She has an adorable little noise she makes when she wants attention. She likes to rub on you and head bump. Curls up next to you in the evening and sleeps. Very shy until she gets to know you. Has always been in a 1 person household. Kona (Siamese mix) purrs ALOT. She does not like sudden moves and ducks when you pet her head or face. Takes a minute to warm up to you but very affectionate once she feels safe. She struggles jumping up high and prefers to lay near your feet. Has always been in a quiet 1 person household. Neither cat would do well with children or other pets. Both are indoor cats but love being out on the porch. Any Supplies that go with pet (food, litter, leash, cat box, bedding, toys): will supply 1 box of wet food and 1 bag of dry as well as some litter. What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet): Both Lucky and Kona eat Rachel Ray Chicken and Brown Rice dry food and Fancy Feast Poultry and Beef Pate wet food. :::::::::::Please know that cats need canned wet food given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too! Limit the overly processed dry food and ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this). :::::::::::: More info here: FurryNationSalvation.Org/wetfood IF YOU WANT TO ADOPT: 1) Please show up with a cat carrier 2) Small adoption fee of: $20 each 3) I will call/text one month from adoption day just to make sure everything is going well 4) Please show up with your Driver's License. 5) Information sheet will be filled out (your information as well as mine) *Please know, that when you bring your newly adopted cat or kitten home, it is always BEST to place him/her in a very small room (bathroom works great) with their litter box, food, water, and bed for a few days to a few weeks. This way the animal can adjust much quicker and get acclimated to the new environment with less stress. All cats/kittens need time to adjust, so if you adopt please allow this. Thank you. Call/text me if interested in this kitty: 386-795-0449 ______________________________________
