Story
Sugar Bear is a shy and cutie pie male Yorkie/Terrier mix that is just a young 3 year old who weighs 11 pounds.   You can see in his little scruffy face that he is trying to be brave and confident.  It just has not come easy for him to even go out in public until recently.  This boy needs someone that will talk to him in a confident tone of voice, who will take him for daily walks, go to Home Depot and walk around and see people, go to PetSmart and pick out a toy, or even go to a dog park where he can sit on the sidelines and just watch all the other confident dogs have fun. You have to help Sugar Bear trust the world and the people around him. He will be scared at first and we think Sugar Bear would need another dog to show him the ropes.  He will need time to warm up over days and maybe a few weeks.  Once he is there with you, then he is there forever.  He gets along great with other dogs and could certainly live with a cat as well.   We are requiring a fenced in yard  and he does walk nicely on a leash.   There are some training tricks that we can share with a new owner that will build his confidence.  If you would like to find purpose in this world and give a shy boy a great home and watch him blossom in your love and care, then Sugar Bear is the dog to adopt.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 27, 2024, 1:06 pm

Story
Anna is a 9 year old, 10lb adorable Chug (chihuahua/pug mix) who has endured some big human turmoil recently and ended up in a Middle Tennessee shelter. Not much is known of her history, but her underweight condition indicates at least some neglect took place. A really devoted foster mom for Critter.Cavalry Rescue noticed her profile in the shelter and realize that being a senior she might not be chosen very easily by the general public.  This young foster woman is making sure that Anna is gaining much needed weight slowly.  She’s starting to put on weight and enjoys her meal times-with the occasional treat of whipped cream. While she is timid at first and a little wary of quick movements, it doesn’t take long for her to warm up and become your best snuggle buddy. Anna has some spunk and can run up stairs as fast as any puppy. She seems to be good with other dogs and initiates playing, though she doesn’t know what to do with toys. She does well on a leash and going outside. She is catching on to potty training (another example of her neglected past) and we are wanting someone who works from home or is retired as she does exhibit some separation anxiety in her first week with us.  She has found the cozy comforts of warm blankets and fluffy pillows and burrows underneath.  Anna has lots of love to give and deserves  a family to spoil her.   Please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
Meet Oreo Cookie, his transformation is nothing short of a miracle. Cookie lived for 2 1/2 years in a crate completely neglected and living in his own urine and feces. When he was brought to the rescue, we immediately knew his condition was far beyond anything that we could deal with here so we rushed him off to the emergency care hospital. This was the worst case of neglect that we had ever seen. He was immediately sedated and the team worked on him for 6 hours. They removed 4 pounds of crusted urine and feces from his little body. When he woke up, he bit bit everyone in sight! When we picked him up the next morning, we didn't even recognize him! His little tail was wagging as they told us to be very cautious but we knew there was hope! We brought him home to let him settle into his new environment. He had never had freedom and all he knew about humans was what they had done to him in the past. It took about 2 weeks for his playful wonderful personality to emerge and we knew he was going to be just fine! He is now the most loveable playful little guy that you will ever meet! He has been neutered and vaccinated. He is also heart worm negative and microchipped. We have before pics and videos upon request but they are too graphic to post here. "Cookie" is now ready for his own forever family, could that be you? ADOPTION FEE $650
