Story
Hi there, my name is Tanner! I`ve been here at the Adams County SPCA for a few days now. The first day was pretty rough for me, and I was worried that someone would hurt me. I`ll admit, I wasn`t very nice to some of the ladies here. They seem to have forgiven me, though, thank goodness.I was in several homes before I came here, but I don`t remember much about them. I remember being scared, that`s about it. My last home was only for a short time before my Dad had to go into a hospital and I was left alone. Again. Then I came here and everything started to change. I learned that humans can be nice, and not everybody is out to hurt me. I learned it`s OK to have someone put a leash over my head, and I`m sorry I tried to bite that nice lady.I learned that I LOVE other dogs, and I hope my new home has at least one dog about my size, so we can be friends. I learned that it`s fun to go outside for walks, especially when my doggie friend walks with me.I`m pretty sure children would scare me, and I might nip at them. For that reason, I don`t want any little kids in my new home, or even any medium-sized kids, just older teenage kids. I think that would be OK. It will take a little while for me to learn to trust the people in my new family, so I hope someone will understand that and give me time to adjust. Since I made friends with one or two of the ladies here, I know I`ll be brave enough to form that bond in my new home.I probably won`t be the kind of dog that will greet all your friends when they come to visit, or jump up on the couch to sit with them. At least not at first - maybe in time, after I learn more about trusting humans. But I will be loyal to my family.If you`re willing to give me a chance, and you think you have the patience to give me the time I`ll need to adjust to your home, go to the shelter website and submit an adoption application. The ladies will pick the very best home for me, and make an appointment for you to come in. I promise I`ll try to be brave when you meet me.
