Story
Meet Charlie Chaplin! Charlie is a two to four-year-old adorable Chiweenie. He’s about 13 pounds and absolutely the sweetest boy. He loves to be around his people and if he can’t sit on your lap or beside you on the sofa, he will be at your feet. It doesn’t take much to win Charlie’s heart, a treat, and a kind word will do it every time. Charlie has gotten along with all the dogs he’s met and has done well with the cat as well. We think he will do well with children as well. Charlie walks well on a leash, but hasn’t had much practice lately. He is also doing very well on his health training, he will let you know when it’s time to go out, although he has had a few accidents and his foster home. Charlie had bloodwork at his vet visit, but he didn’t need a dental cleaning. His teeth looked so good. Interested in becoming a forever home for Charlie Chaplin? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Charlie Chaplin. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Charlie Chaplin the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. Our normal adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
This little spitfire is ready to find her forever home! Frankie is 1 year old Yorkie that has a condition called megaesophagus, but she doesn’t let that slow her down. She has a big personality that lights up a room. Frankie is spunky, she is bossy, and she has no idea she is a wee 5 pounds…typical small dog!   We know so, so many people would love to have a little companion like her and we want to make sure Frankie's forever family is the best possible fit as she is a special girl that needs specific, diligent care and daily medication to keep her healthy. Luckily we know the care routine that works best for her and have it listed below to help a potential adopter determine if her needs are feasible for their family and home. Frankie came to us at 3 months old when her owners felt they could no longer provide the care she needed with her condition. She was born with megaesophagus (her esophagus is enlarged, making it hard for food to pass easily to her stomach), so he has a special diet and feeding regimen, but is well managed when strictly followed. Frankie is handfed slightly watered down canned food in a chair and has to sit up for 25 minutes after eating to avoid regurgitation. Total time for her meals, start to finish, is about 40 minutes. During her upright time, she enjoys broth ice cubes because she cannot have water. Her favorite treats are Gerber Puffs, and they don’t cause issues because they dissolve easily. She also requires lifetime meds, 2 prescription and one over the counter, to help with her condition. The estimated monthly cost of these meds is $150. Additionally, she has to wear a neck donut at all times. If she doesn’t wear this, her saliva gets stuck in her esophagus and causes her to cough and regurgitate. The greatest risk with this condition and regurgitation is aspiration pneumonia so her upright time is of utmost importance, as well as her not being allowed to eat or drink things she shouldn’t. Frankie lives with foster dogs of all sizes and gives everyone a run for their money. She can be a bit spicy with other dogs, but nothing more than a typical small dog with a big personality. However, she will need a laid back and understanding fur-sibling if she has any. She would do best in a home with dogs her size. She pays no attention to the cats in her foster home. Due to her spicy personality and food restrictions, Frankie is best in a home without children. Frankie loves running outside, going for car rides, and the being the star of the show. She does need a little monitoring with exercise because when she is super excited for an extended period of time, she tends to choke on excess saliva. While megaesophagus can sound like a scary condition, when managed properly, these dogs live very fulfilled lives. Frankie is a very special little lady and we want nothing more than to find her very special family to call her own. If you think Frankie might be a good fit for your home, you can send inquiries to our director of adoptions at muttmisfitsadoptions@gmail.com or apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application! Frankie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, heart-worm negative, and micro-chipped! Her adoption fee is $250.
