Story
Location: Decatur, IL Emerald is a puppy mill survivor! She is still learning the ways of being a pet and adjusting to life in a home. Emerald is sometimes shy and insecure with strangers (especially men) and will bark at them. Her new family will need to understand this and take things slow when introducing new people and having guests. We recommend short visits that are positive to help her be ok with new people. Emerald has discovered all the joys of toys and likes to play with them. She spins in circles when she is happy or excited. She loves other dogs and will lay next to them. She thinks every dog is her friend, even if they have different feelings about it. Emerald is not sure about grass but is getting a little more comfortable with being outside. She likes to lay on the concrete in the sun. She gets along great with other dogs and will play with them, but she can also entertain herself. She is good with snuggles from people but is unsure about being picked up and will run away at first. This should get better with time and as she learns to trust. Emerald is considered a flight risk and will need a secure physical fence to keep her safe. Someone with mill dog experience is needed or another canine companion in the dog. Another dog will help her continue her studies in being a pet. Emerald's adoption fee is $375. She is spayed and current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. NOTE: WE ARE A VOLUNTEER RAN ORGANIZATION AND OUR APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS, DEPENDING ON OUR AVAILIBILITY AND YOUR REFERENCES. ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES AND NOT AT A CENTRAL LOCATION. AN APPROVED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE WE DO MEET AND GREETS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT DOGS. YOU MUST COME TO THE LOCATION OF THE DOG TO MEET AND ADOPT.

Story
Location Decatur, IL Visit leiashope.org for our adoption process This lady is wonderful. She has a great demeanor, not a dare devil but not overly sensitive. She is highly treat motivated and smart to pick up almost anything taught to her! She snores when she sleeps, which is ADORABLE, and grunts when cuddling! Pink Lady has been raised on Puppy Culture. Puppy Culture is a comprehensive program for new puppies that aims to optimize a puppy's physical and mental developement. The goal of the program is to raise confident and healthy puppies. Since birth Lady has been handled, touched, stroked, smooched on and doted over. She has had many experiences to different sights, sounds (thunderstorm, dogs barking, TV, train, vacuum, hair dryer, etc.) and surfaces (grass, carpet, rock, vinyl, water, stairs, balance board, etc). In addition, she has had many opportunities to meet different people and dogs and go to different places. She has been taught to explore and try new things, how to communicate with people through manding, how to be creative in her thoughts and approaches to challenges, and been exposed to grooming equipment. And let me tell you, Lady has been great about it all! Lady has been weaned on a raw diet and had her gut biome enhanced with a variety of different foods. Studies have shown this can help with gut health throughout the rest of her life. She is now eating a dry kibble. Lady does have a small umbilical hernia that can be repaired at the time of spay. Other than this, she is a healthy puppy! Lady's adoption is $550. Here is what your $550 gets you: 1. Puppy vaccines and rabies (DAPP and Bordetella), approx. value $200 2. Complete wellness exam, microchip, and deworming, approx. value $130 3. Spay and neuter reimburse, value $200 4. Puppy Culture training from birth to adopt, approx value $300+ 5. A cute, snuggly, perfect puppy, value PRICELESS! APPLICATIONS AT LEIASHOPE.ORG PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Story
Location Decatur, IL Application at leiashope.org Frankie is the sweetest of all the pups. He loves attention and to be held and cuddled. When I sit on the floor he is usually the first to come running. He is the biggest boy and him and Pink Lady swap back and forth between who weighs the most. He does like treats but for him, his biggest motivator is affection. Frankie has been raised on Puppy Culture. Puppy Culture is a comprehensive program for new puppies that aims to optimize a puppy's physical and mental developement. The goal of the program is to raise confident and healthy puppies. Since birth Frankie has been handled, touched, stroked, smooched on and doted over. He has been taught to explore and try new things, how to communicate with people through manding, how to be creative in his thoughts and approaches to challenges, and been exposed to grooming equipment. Frankie is pretty even tempered about most things and is usually happy as long as he is getting loved on. Frankie has been weaned on a raw diet and had his gut biome enhanced with a variety of different foods. Studies have shown this can help with gut health throughout the rest of his life. He is currently eating dry kibble. Frankie does have a small umbilical hernia that can be repaired at the time of neuter. In addition he has polydactyl (an extra toe) rear feet and double dew claws. His feet do not hinder his ability to get around at all. Frankie's adoption is $550.
