LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  Approx. 13 years old / Approx. 13 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bessie!  I lived with my family my entire life, but their living situation changed, and they are relocating to a home where pets are not allowed.  That makes me sad, but I am so grateful that Mostly Mutts will work to help me find a new home.  I am in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did not like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts, so no dogs please. I tolerated a dog in one temp. foster home, but another temp. foster said I barked at dogs that entered the same room as me as well as those I passed on my walks, so I do not want to live with them. / My former family reported that I did not like cats and Mostly Mutts agrees. / I excitedly went after ankles of kids I met in a foster home and since I have bitten, best no kids.     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a playful girl who likes toys and sometimes acts younger than my age.  I’m called a spry girl and had a blast playing with the volunteer photographer!  I’m a sweet girl who accepts affection most of the time, though I have guarding behaviors when it comes to things like my bed, treats and people.  Once I find my person, I don’t really want to share them too much. This can be a trainable situation and my trainer will be happy to talk to you.  I can be a bit temperamental and once bit my former foster mom, though I did have a urinary tract infection, so that may have had a bit to do with it. My former owner did not report any bites.  My foster said I like new people to go slow as I get to know them so, please be patient with me as I adjust to my new home and any new people I meet.  It just took a few days for me to feel comfortable with a temp. foster when my regular foster was away.  She even called me a ‘real love bug.’  I think I would do best in a home with a small circle of regular people and not too many people coming and going.  Once I am settled, I am sure to show you how sweet I can be!  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I have already learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also walk well on a leash.  My trainer at the shelter is great with the little dogs with big personalities, so ask to talk to her when setting up a meeting with me.  My former family reported that I also knew the word ‘no’ and ‘good job’ for praising me. In my former foster home, I knew the words ‘outside’ for going out, and ‘up’, for going up stairs and that I could ‘sit’ when I choose to – lol. / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts.  My foster says I go in and out of my open crate to rest or clean myself, but get a bit stressed if I have to be crated during the day.  Usually I am allowed to have free reign of my foster home when she goes to work and I do great with that.  I sleep in bed with my foster and really like that.  There was one report of biting a former foster while asleep / just waking up, just so you know.  I can sleep in my crate if that is better for you.  / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and in my foster home.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks and playing fetch.  It was fun playing in the fall leaves too. I enjoy having my cheeks and the top of my head rubbed as well as cuddles and scratches on my back.  Playing with toys is also fun and I enjoy hanging out with my person.  I love treats just as much as toys and playtime.  I do seem to prefer women to men. / I don’t like to be picked up, so let me come to you, please.  I’m also not a fan of having my paws, tummy or rear end rubbed.  I don’t care for some men or people going too fast as I get to know them.  I don’t like dogs coming too close and alert bark at animals I see outside.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, training, and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a congenital dropped carpus on both front legs and luxating patella on the left, but my foster didn’t even notice as I can jump and don’t have pain.  I am taking a fish oil supplement and Benadryl daily to help alleviate some bouts with dry, itchy skin.  I also have a mild heart murmur that does not require any treatment currently. I’m on an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs.   I am looking for a loving home for life with a dog experienced person! My adoption fee is $299.00, & I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  November 7, 2024, 4:18 pm

Story
A WONDERFUL LITTLE GUY:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 9 lbs.  Hi, I’m Rockey! I had a home from puppyhood, but now my family travels too much with their job and can no longer care for me.  Thankfully, Mostly Mutts was able to take me into their program and help me find a new home.  I’m in a great foster home while I wait!  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  My former family reported that I liked some dogs.  I was unsure about the dogs in my foster home when I arrived (one is my size and one about 5 lbs. larger) so we have mostly been kept separate.  I did figure out how to get out of the room which is my dad’s office when he stepped away and I was discovered walking around with the other dogs, so perhaps I just needed a little warm up time with them.  I’ve just been neutered and am in my recovery period, so once I’m healed, we will meet again.  If you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! My foster also says that they think I would be a good only dog. / I met a kitty at Mostly Mutts, and we all agree that I should not live with cats. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts or in my foster home.  My former family reported that I liked kids though I don’t recall their ages, so if you have kids let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me as I’m small.   • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:   I’m reported to be a spunky little guy who loves a comfy dog bed, and lots of treats though I take them a little roughly, so my foster just drops them in my food bowl.  In my foster home, I get to stay in my fosters work from home office while he works, and I usually happily sleep while he’s working – so I’d just love a work from home or stay at home family member!  In my former home, I was alone 6+ hours a day and I didn’t love that, so I was a little barky. I’d love a work-from-home or stay-at-home family member to hang out with. I’m a great little guy with a good personality who also rides well in the car, so you can take me places with you. / My former owner reported that I had a high energy level – though they were gone a good part of the day.  I also had a higher energy level at the Mostly Mutts shelter.  Now that I’m in a foster home where my dad works from home, he reports that my energy level is lower at a 3-5 since I can spend time during the day with my person.            • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  My former owner reported that I know the ‘sit’ command and my foster says that I walk well on my leash.  I’m sure you can teach me lots more! / In my foster home I do well in my crate at nighttime though I don’t go in it myself, but my foster puts me in it and I sleep well there at bedtime.  My former family also reported that I was crate trained. /  My former family reported that I was potty trained and I’m doing well in my foster home though I’ve marked a couple of times since I was just neutered and there are other dogs in the home.     • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I really love being around people and will make a great lap dog.  I also love dog beds, and I’m a good drinker and eater and I love to lean into my fosters to get lots of petting. I enjoy both playing and taking naps and I enjoy going outside to play fetch and running around to explore as well. / I can’t think of any dislikes but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I’m a super sweet and fun little guy looking for a great family to love and be loved by!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  November 13, 2024, 7:02 am

Story
A CUTE BUNDLE OF LOVE:  Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 10 lbs. Hello – I’m Orion!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control which made my day!  I’ve been enjoying life in a great foster home and am excited to find a home of my very own soon.  I am sure to charm you with my expressive ears and cute head tilt as I intently listen to you telling me how adorable I am! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:   I get along very well with the dogs in my foster home.  I play with the one who is 6x my size, while also occasionally engaging the dog closer to my size – who is older and not always a fan of my shenanigans – but I get her to play with me sometimes.  When I try to be the alpha dog with humping behaviors, they correct me, and I listen.  So, if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / I shouldn’t live with kitties as I love chasing them and they do not like that, so no kitties for me. / I really enjoyed the two children that visited my foster home (ages 7 & 12).  My foster reports that I was a love bug with them and enjoyed playing with toys with them, so if you have kids around their ages, let’s meet and best no toddlers who may fall on me.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster describes me as a very happy little guy who is a true people dog.  I seek out attention and can be a bit barky at first with strangers but am happy to meet them and have been nice with everyone I’ve met!  I am smart and easily trained - picking up on the routines of my foster home very quickly. Playful, snuggly and affectionate, I am basically a fun-loving little lap dog. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a fast learner and know the ‘leave it’ and ‘stay’ commands.  I am learning ‘go out’ and ‘leash’ too. I bet you can teach me even more! / I have not needed to be crated in my foster home. / My potty habits have been good in my foster home on a schedule.  I have also started showing that I want to go out by going to the door and looking back at you.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Toys, treats, snuggles, and being loved – it’s all great!  I love to play and will sometimes bring my tennis ball to my foster to throw.  Sleeping in my dog bed next to my foster’s desk while they work makes me happy.  I also love to just be held and get snuggles from my people, while giving them kisses. / I hate to be left out of anything and will get underfoot to be sure that I’m not missing out. Be cautious if you're not steady on your feet as I don’t know what personal space is and I wouldn’t want to trip someone who is a fall risk. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I’m current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have some tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.    I am looking for a loving home with a great family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  November 8, 2024, 6:35 pm
