Story
2 years old (estimated) Female (will be spayed prior to adoption) 10 lbs. Sweet lovebug Has done well with other dogs No known experience with cats or children More information coming soon! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.July 5, 2024, 8:17 pm

Story
Meet Kronk! Oh! Well, hello there, my name is Kronk, and I'm so pleased to meet you. I was recently brought in to animal control as a golden oldie, and I was one hot mess! I needed to be shaved down because I was so matted. I'm working on getting my skin healthy, so I'm not quite so itchy anymore. I'm just a little guy, at 16 pounds, and I need to gain a few pounds. I love food, though, even if I do need the flavors switched up once in a while. Who wants to eat the same thing day after day anyway? I get along with other dogs quite well, and I go outside to potty. I haven't met any kids or cats, but I love humans, and if you have older, teen aged kids, I could live with them. I found out that I'm what they call blind, and I don't hear so well anymore, so little kiddos might be a little much for me. Being that I'm older, I have a bit of a wonky gait, so I take some meds for arthritis, whatever that is. I'm really good about taking my meds, and that includes the ones I take to keep my eyes clean! Foster mom says I'm the bestest boy! I really enjoy wandering in the fenced-in yard here in my foster home. It lets me use my sniffer, and it keeps me safe at the same time. Even though I can't see a darn thing, that doesn't stop me from always being able to find my human if they're in a different room. I really like being close to my people, especially if that means I'll get pet by them! I would make a good snuggle buddy, too! Now I'm just looking for my forever home with my forever people. I hope you have a lap that need to be kept warm! *Kronk is being fostered in the Green Bay area. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). Story
Name: Rupert Breed: Shih Tzu Age: 8 Months Description: Meet Rupert, our charming little Shih Tzu! At about 8 months old, Rupert has come a long way from his early days. He was initially left unsold by a commercial breeder due to cherry eye, which has now been surgically corrected. Rupert is thriving and ready to find his forever home.  He weighs around 12 lb. Personality: Playful: Rupert loves playing in the splash pool with other dogs and enjoys being active. Learning and Adapting: He is becoming more comfortable with human handling, although he prefers not to be held. Active: He is learning to walk on a leash but would benefit from a fenced yard where he can play freely, and he would love the company of another dog. Special Requirements: Rupert needs a loving and patient adopter who can help him continue to build his confidence and social skills. He thrives in an environment where he can play and explore, and he would be happiest in a home with a fenced yard and a doggy friend. Health: Cherry Eye: Surgically corrected and Rupert is now in great health. Adoption Fee: $450 Contact Information: If you are interested in adopting Rupert and providing him with a loving and patient home, please visit  Give Rupert the loving home he deserves, and enjoy the companionship of this delightful Shih Tzu! Rupert came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer.  He is a shy guy and will need time and patience to understand and enjoy human companionship.  He is happy when he is in his kennel run with another dog (loves to play with other dogs) but very unsure of human touch.  He does need to have another dog in his new home to make him comfortable.  A secure fence will be needed as well.  He had "cherry eye" repair in both eyes and his eyes are now looking great! Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $450 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS July 5, 2024, 5:17 pm

Story
About Me: Name: Kobe Breed (or best guess): Shih Tzu Approximate Age: 4 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 13 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Patient adopter Why In Rescue: owner surrender Profile:  Koby was surrendered with a number of other dogs when his owner lost their home.  Koby takes awhile to get to know new people, and is adjusting to life at the shelter.  He has another small female dog as his friend, he isn't super playful with the other dog, but seems to like the company of another dog.  He doesn't love getting groomed, especially his face, so he will need work with that (and a patient groomer).  He has been neutered and had his teeth cleaned as well as vet care updated.  While the vets haven't noticed any issues with his eyes, we are wondering if he doesn't see real well.  Recently we have noticed sometimes his eyesight seems fine, other times he doesn't seem to see very well.  Because of this a family without young children would be best.  He isn't use to walking on a leash so a fenced yard would be best.  If you think you may have just the right home for Koby, please fill out the pre-adoption application. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation.
