Story
Ziggy was rescued into RHS on 2/22/25.  He is approximately 8 years old and weighed 15 lbs.  He was severly matted and was in need of help.  He received medical care and was shaved down at the same time.  He lost almost a pound of matted hair and dirt.  You can tell he came from an extended neglectful situations.  He has come so far in the last few weeks and he is a different little man.  He is working on going potty outside and is doing an exceptionally good job.  He walks on leash with some hesitation but improves gradually.  Car rides are good for him.  He likes his crate where he takes his afternoon naps often.  He has no issues with the 2 female dogs at the foster home.  He didn't hesitate to get a scratch from a young boy.   Overall, Ziggy is a quiet boy but gets excited whenever he was given a treat.  He is a great lap dog.  He needs someone who is patient because he is missing an eye and is partially blind in the other.  It won't slow him down at all once he learns your home and routines.  He is a wonderful dog with lots of love to give.   Here's how to meet Ziggy: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. APPLY HERE: www.richardsonhumanesociety.org ##2312837##

Story
Unbelievably, sweet Edward/Doug the Dog is still available for a lucky family. He gets on well with other dogs, both large and small. He’s potty, leash and crate trained! I think he’s about a year old. He will make someone very, very happy❤️. And those teeth! He belongs on Season 4 of The White Lotus😂 All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Raider is a cute lil Shih Tzu that was at a shelter and about to euthanize him because he was scared at the shelter.  He is super sweet and he doesn't look nor act like he is 11.  We think he is more like 8.  More to come on this new arrival. He weighs 11.5 lbs ##2373827##

Story
Mayzie is a female Shih-Tzu/Yorki mix and is 13 years old. MacGregor is a male Shih-Tzu and 11 years old. Both have been with us their entire lives and have been a wonderful part of our family. It breaks our heart to re-home them, but with two young g children and busy lives, these aging pups are not getting the attention the need and deserve. They need to be let out a lot more during the day and we would love for them to be with someone who could give them that. We really don't want to split these two wonderful pups up. They have been great with out 3 year old and 9 month old, as well with other relatives dogs. They are super sweet and cuddly, love attention, and have been wonderful to us. With their age and frequent need for potty breaks, we just feel it's not fair to them to keep them in our current situation.

BREED-Shih Tzu SEX-Male; SIZE-Small; WEIGHT-13 lbs.; AGE-Approximately 2 YearsSPAY/NEUTER-Yes; HOUSETRAINED-Currently Uses Doggie Door; GOOD WITH KIDS-Yes; GOOD WITH DOGS-Yes; GOOD WITH CATS-Unknown; HISTORY-Rescued From A Local Shelter; ADOPTION FEE-$350;Hey, I'm Kris! So, you're probably wondering how a smart guy like me ended up in a shelter. Well, it involves a tennis ball, a squirrel, and a very confused mailman. Let's just say the mailman is still looking for his hat. I'm a sweet, friendly, and independent chap, but I must confess, I'm not a fan of being picked up. It's just not my style. I prefer all four paws on the ground, thank you very much. Now, why should you adopt me? Besides my charming personality and comedic history, I'm also a great listener. Plus, I promise not to chase your mailman... much.April 22, 2025, 10:01 am
