Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!My name is Tippy Toes probably because I dance around on them all the time!  Mom calls me the automatic mop.  She's always smiling when she says it so it must be a good thing :)Mom says no tiny or older dogs because I'm too boisterous and have been known to jump on one of the seniors and not give up trying to get them to play.  I need a fun dog friend with lots of energy like me!!MUST have a fenced yardMUST have another young dog as a playmateVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Meet Butter! A playful, two-year-old, 13 lb neutered Shih-tzu mix. He’s the perfect mix of energy and companion. Butter is always ready for an adventure, entertaining himself with toys, going for a walk or romping around in the yard. But when the day winds down, he’s equally happy to curl up next to you, offering the perfect blend of lively spirit and laid-back charm. This sweet, affectionate boy loves having fun and relaxing in equal measure. Butter is eager to please and is a star pupil with learning his manners. He is crate trained and has made great progress on his house training. He is dog, cat and kid friendly. He is currently living with one other dog in his foster home. Butter has shown signs of being territorial when a new dog enters his domain. However, he’s remarkably adaptable and well-mannered when he’s the newcomer, fitting in quickly and respecting the boundaries of other dogs in their home. He is UTD on vaccinations and is fostered in Westminster, MD. New Oxford, PA, 17350; LIC #9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. Story
Say hello to handsome Max! Max is a 3-year-old neutered Shih Tzu mix. Max's favorite thing to do is give you kisses and snuggle up with you whenever you are sitting still. Max is a perfect gentleman on a leash and loves to go for his walk everyday. He has a moderate energy level and will find a toy to play with to keep himself busy if he's not snuggling up next to you. Max gets along really well with his foster brothers and sisters of all sizes but we just don't know about cats yet! Max is 100% housebroken and is great trained but we don't use the crate in his foster home at all. He also loves to go on car rides and is a very good passenger! Max is up to date on all of his needed vaccinations and is waiting for you in New Cumberland. Story
Chixi, pronounced "See-Chee is an adorable 7.5lb female Shih Tzu who's owner recently passed away. Don't let her age fool you because she definitely acts MUCH younger than her actual age. She loves teeny tennis balls, toys, and playing fetch. She adores people and snuggling. She will melt into you for hugs when picked up! She is good with other dogs of all sizes, cats and kids. She does well in a puppy pen over night and is doing well working on her house training. If you'd like more information on Chixi and would like to meet her please submit an adoption application.

Story
Are you looking for the perfect friend? Meet Bucky, a charming 8-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart full of love. His sweet and friendly nature will win you over in no time. Bucky's mellow temperament makes him a perfect companion for those peaceful afternoons spent reading a book or watching your favorite show. He enjoys a good cuddle and is always up for some affection. Bucky is easy-going and adapts well to new environments. His calm demeanor and loving personality make him an ideal pet for any household. Bucky found himself at the shelter because his owner could no longer care for him. Sadly, Bucky had two owners and neither bothered to ever take him to see a vet. But we changed all of that! He was neutered at the shelter and our vet treated his corneal ulcer. Bucky has a condition that is fairly common to Shih Tzu's, dry eye. But it's easily treated with daily eye drops. If you're looking for a loyal friend who will bring warmth and joy to your life, Bucky is the one for you. FLFO requires a home visit therefore adopters must be within 40 miles of Baldwin MD.
