Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!My name is Tippy Toes probably because I dance around on them all the time!  Mom calls me the automatic mop.  She's always smiling when she says it so it must be a good thing :)Mom says no tiny or older dogs because I'm too boisterous and have been known to jump on one of the seniors and not give up trying to get them to play.  I need a fun dog friend with lots of energy like me!!MUST have a fenced yardMUST have another young dog as a playmateVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Charlie is a spunky young dog who loves to go for walks, chase his ball, or take a ride in the car. His favorite words are “Charlie, do want to go bye-bye?” He is great with other dogs and even cats! Charlie would enjoy a playful doggy companion, and a fenced yard to chase his ball in (but neither is required). He is great on leash, and he is friendly and outgoing when he is out and about. He happily greets humans of allsizes! At home he is affectionate and sweet, and he seeks out attention and petting, and he likes to give doggy kisses. He's a young dog, so he likes to go go go! An active family would suit Charlie just fine! Charlie has one hard rule, though. He does not want to be touched when he is lying down to rest or sleeping. This behavior is known as resting place resource guarding in dogs. When this boundary that Charlie has is not respected, he may become defensive. He came into our care after his original owner misunderstood and mismanaged this issue, and we promised Charlie that it would never happen again. This is a behavior that is very manageable and can be improved with time, patience and training, but it may always be a part of who Charlie is. His foster mom reports that there are no issues as long as Charlie’s rule is followed by all humans. A professional dog trainer has worked with him and will be a part of choosing Charlie's adoptive family. Charlie is crate trained, and enjoys having his own "room" to go to when he wants to chill out. He often chooses to take a nap there during the day, and he sleeps in his crate at night. We recommend that Charlie's adoptive family provide a crate for his comfort and security, and Charlie says it must also include a cozy blanket to snuggle into.   Homes with children or that have frequent young visitors will NOT be considered for Charlie, out of an abundance of caution.  Charlie has a soft curly coat that will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep him looking his best. Please consider this lifelong expense. He handles grooming like a champ!   Mostly Muttz Rescue, PO Box 406, Gilbertsville, PA 19525PA Kennel License 10872 ##2197376##

Story
Meet Butter! A playful, two-year-old, 13 lb neutered Shih-tzu mix. He’s the perfect mix of energy and companion. Butter is always ready for an adventure, entertaining himself with toys, going for a walk or romping around in the yard. But when the day winds down, he’s equally happy to curl up next to you, offering the perfect blend of lively spirit and laid-back charm. This sweet, affectionate boy loves having fun and relaxing in equal measure. Butter is eager to please and is a star pupil with learning his manners. He is crate trained and has made great progress on his house training. He is dog, cat and kid friendly. He is currently living with one other dog in his foster home. Butter has shown signs of being territorial when a new dog enters his domain. However, he’s remarkably adaptable and well-mannered when he’s the newcomer, fitting in quickly and respecting the boundaries of other dogs in their home. He is UTD on vaccinations and is fostered in Westminster, MD. New Oxford, PA, 17350; LIC #9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate.
