Story
Piper is a adorable 6-year-old maltese/shih tzu mix. She may be petite at 12 lbs, but she packs a lot of personality in her tiny frame! Are you looking for a great napping and cuddling companion? There's nothing she loves more than spending time with her person, although car trips are a close second! It took her a few days to get used to living the good life, but she's been inseparable from her foster mom ever since. She is low energy, and enjoys taking short, slow walks, stopping often to smell the flowers. Piper enjoys spending time with other dogs her own age, but would also be happy to be your one and only. She is still scared of most men, but adores her foster mom's dad. She loves the children in the house, and would enjoy living in a home with respectful children over the age of 8. You might have noticed that she only has one eye, which gives her a distinctive look, like she's giving you a wink! Piper will intermittently complain when her foster mom leaves the house and she is left alone, so an apartment or attached house probably wouldn't be best. Piper has been cat tested. After a slow introduction, she does well with cats and enjoys watching squirrels with them. While she is housetrained, she does not 'ask' to go out to go potty, so relies on a regular schedule to avoid having accidents in the house, and regression is expected when transitioning households. Piper has been spayed, received a dental with some extractions, and has been microchipped and vaccinated. She is currently on flea tick and heartworm prevention. Her adoption donation fee is $400. Piper is being fostered in Wyomissing, PA, so any approved applicants will need to travel to meet her before adoption. If interested in her please apply through Zoeshouserescue.com Kennel License #9117 PO Box 2372 Reading, PA 19608

Story
"Hey, Y'all! I am Miss Flora, and it is a pleasure to meet you! I am a calm, lovable 6 year old Shih Tzu. I love to lay around in sun spots, go for strolls in the neighborhood, and play with my toys! I am a professional napper - beds, couches, cushions, the deck chairs, I'll nap anywhere! I grew up as a house dog on a farm and had a few litters of puppies. I'm a social butterfly and I love to hang out with my people. Other animals are wonderful too! The more the merrier in my book! I had pretty terrible teeth when I came to Zoe's House Rescue, but they got the bad ones removed and I am feeling so much better! I love to eat wet food, but I do just fine with my kibble - just moisten it with some water for me! I am spayed, up to date on my vaccines, heartworm negative, and have had monthly parasite prevention. When I came into the rescue I tested positive for Erlichia, a tickborne illness. I have had a full course of antibiotics and I am feeling great! I am crate trained, and I consider myself a housebroken lady, but accidents are normal when a dog is in a new home and learning a new routine. I would love to meet you!" Flora is being fostered in Southern Lancaster County and interested adopters must come to her foster home twice. The first visit is a meet and greet with all the members of the household including existing dogs in the home. The second visit is to take her home. Go online to www.zoeshouserescue.com and complete an adoption application! We do not always receive applications submitted through adoptapet or petfinder. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Cushion is precious.    Cushion was a heap of hair and smelled AWFUL of urine when she arrived.  Have no fear we had her professionally groomed immediately!  Her mom Candy is here also.Cushion is super sweet and very active.  They are not totally potty trained and will go to no one who has young children.  If you are looking for an awesome duo these two fit the bill :)NO childrenMUST have a fenced yardMUST be adopted with CandyVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 2, 2024, 7:55 pm
