Story
Romeo, Romeo, where art thou, Romeo? If you're searching for a handsome little guy to steal your heart, look no further! Romeo is a neutered male Shih Tzu with a sweet disposition to match his charming name. Romeo has a few health needs that require special care. He has allergies, which are managed with daily medication and a vegetarian diet. Since starting this routine, his skin has greatly improved, and we've even been able to reduce the frequency of his medicated baths. Romeo also has dry eye and will need daily eye drops long-term to keep him comfortable. Recently, he underwent surgery to remove a mast cell tumor from his leg, and we are awaiting the results to determine if the surgery was fully successful. Romeo is looking for a dedicated and peaceful home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by love and comfort. Could that be with you?

Story
Dog’s Name: Diego  Breed: shih tzu  Weight: 15 pounds Gender: male  Spayed/neutered: yes Age: 6 Reason for Intake: mill dog Medical (shots etc): up-tp-date Good with dogs: yes Good with cats: ignores them, not issues with cats  Good with kids: He is frightened around people and seems overwhelmed. He lived in a barn with other mill dogs his whole life Good with strangers: yes Guarding issues: no Ever bitten a human: no Ever bitten a dog: no Behavioural issues: skittish and needs time to learn this new life; we've seen no aggression  Housetrained: Not quite yet but he has been clean in his area at night and will pee and poop outside if we carry him there. He wears a belly band if we are not watching him Crate trained: yes Destructive when left alone: no Barks when left alone: no Leash skills: he really enjoys slow walks Any Handling issues: none Known commands: none Food on now: president's choice. He is a bit scared to eat from the bowl but if I sit beside him on the couch he will finish his meal. He's even learning that my hand usually has a treat for him. Medical issues: old ulcer on his eye but it does not bother him at all and has been checked by the vet.  Personality, likes/dislikes: Diego has not been socialized or taught anything. He has lived in a barn his whole life. The world is large, overwhelming and scary for him right now.  That being said, he likes people. He is the biggest cuddle bug. He just wants to be near his people. He enjoys being scratched and petted.  He's not great walking on laminate floors so he doesn't move around the house very much. If he's not on the couch beside me, he'll sit on the floor at my feet. He likes exploring the backyard, even with all the snow. He likes short walks and car rides. He's curious and wants to learn about his surroundings.  Best home scenario: Diego would love a calm family or older couple that are home most of the time. If you put him beside you, he'll stay there all day and night. He gets wiggly to let us know when he wants to go outside.  He is a very brave little man who needs a safe place to live out his life. Someone with patience who can show him all the wonderful things live has to offer. He is easy to care for because he doesn't ask for much. A soft bed. Two meals a day. A nice little walk if it's not too cold. A person to snuggle with and show him love.          February 17, 2025, 8:52 am

Story
Currently in a Toronto foster home Meet Lodi, a sweet 7-year-old Shih Tzu who has been through a lot in his life, but is ready to shower you with love and cuddles! Once a family companion, Lodi was sadly abandoned, but he’s now looking for a fresh start with a new family to call his own. Lodi recently had a dental cleaning, and though his teeth are a bit worn from his past (he might have chewed on his cage when he was left in a small space), he still eats just fine and doesn’t let anything slow him down. He’s a happy little guy who enjoys every moment! Lodi has a charming little quirk—his one eye is a bit more protruded than usual. The vet thinks he might not have vision in that eye, but his other eye is healthy, and he manages just fine. A few drops of artificial tears every now and then will keep his eye comfortable, and that’s about it! His health is overall great. What truly makes Lodi special is his incredibly gentle, affectionate personality. He’s a quiet soul who rarely barks, and he absolutely loves people! He loves to be near you, soaking up all the love and attention you can give. While he might get a little nervous when you leave (poor guy is still healing from the pain of being abandoned), his sweet nature will melt your heart. Lodi is also very social with other dogs and has no issues with aggression. He’s not the type to steal food from others—he’s happy just being around his friends. He’s a great balance of playful and independent, enjoying both social time and some peaceful moments alone. It seems like Lodi used to live indoors with his previous family, and he’s likely used to potty pads. There might be a few little accidents as he settles into a new home, but with patience, he’ll be a pro at pottying outside in no time! If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion who just wants to be surrounded by warmth and kindness, Lodi is your boy. He’s ready to bring endless love, joy, and cuddles into your life!
