**IF THIS LISTING IS STILL POSTED THIS DOG IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. NO NEED TO EMAIL ASKING IF THE DOG IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BIO THOROUGHLY AS INFORMATION ON HOW TO APPLY IS CONTAINED IN THIS LISTING** For Adoption: Uba! Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. To apply for adoption and for more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/. I'd like to introduce this happy little Shih Tzu, Uba! Uba's tail has been wagging since joining us. Uba is a beautiful dog who is mostly cream in colour with some brown patches. Uba weighs about 15 pounds and is 2.5yrs old. Uba is a very happy girl with lots of Shih Tzu personality. Uba came from a commercial breeding situation. Uba is still learning the world is safe and humans are kind. Uba has craved human interaction since arriving despite being used as a means of profit and treated unkindly in her past. Uba is still learning to be a dog and learning to live in a home with comforts, but. also learning to live in a neighbourhood with different noises. Uba needs a family who will give her time and space to learn and trust. Uba would do best in a home with experience dealing with mill dogs. Once Uba trusts she is safe she is the sweetest, happiest dog who just wants to spend all her time with her people. Uba wants to snuggle on the couch with you and go on many wonderful walks. Uba wants to share her silly side with you and play with her stuffed toys. Uba wants to learn new skills so she can get as many liver treats as you are willing to give her. Uba just wants a home where people will put in the work so Uba can show you her best loving self. Uba loves routine and consistency. Uba does not love her crate. Uba is still working hard on her crate training and would certainly prefer a home where she does not need to spend and entire work day in her crate. A home with a secure fenced yard where Uba can sit outside with her humans and enjoy the fresh air would bring her joy. Even on the coldest days of this winter Uba wanted to just be outside. Uba is doing fantastic with her potty training. Uba is excellent on leash and loves to go for her walks. Uba has the most adorable little strut when she walks and you just can't help but smile. Uba is starting to sniff all the wonderful smells on her walks. Uba does not pull when walking and usually walks just slightly behind you. If a pull does happen, it is because she suddenly smells something wonderful which must be investigated or if she decides she just wants to stop walking for a quick moment. Uba will then look up at you with her big brown puppy dog eyes and continue walking. Uba is working on sit and touch commands. Uba enjoys working on new skills because she gets lots of liver treats which are her favourite. Uba does very well in the car and loves going on car rides. When you open the car door, Uba will put her paws up on the door frame and then wait for you to lift her up onto the seat. If it were up to Uba she would go for a car ride to the forest trail multiple times a day. Uba would do best in an adult only home. Children move too fast for her and it makes her anxious. Uba needs a detached home as she becomes quite boisterous when she is in her crate and is expressing her displeasure. Uba also likes to bark when she hears unfamiliar noises or if she becomes startled in the house but Uba is easily redirected. Uba does not have recall yet and is a flight risk because of her past. Uba generally warms up to women faster than men. Uba will warm up to men but they need to give her more time and space. Uba is happy to have her foster dad pet her and interact with her but it has taken time. Uba would be very happy to be the only dog in the house. Uba loves all the attention she can get. Uba is full of personality. Her tail is always wagging. Uba is the best snuggle dog. She is so happy to sit on the couch and snuggle with her human. Uba eats very well. We are feeding Uba in her crate to help with the crate training. Uba is quite entertaining to watch eat as she has to chew each piece of kibble individually and she always looks so happy as she is chewing. Each kibble is the best kibble she has ever eaten and her head is held up as she chews. Uba lives currently with a large dog foster sister and they get along just fine but we know that Uba would prefer being the only dog in the home. If another dog is too in Uba's face she will make it know she does not like that. We expect that Uba would be fine with a dog savvy dog in the home. Uba will need an adult only home or one with calm and quiet teens. As a mill dog who is still adjusting to the world outside of a barn, the noises, activity and energy of children will be too scary and overwhelming for her. This goes for visiting children as well. Uba would like the calm and peace of an adult only home. Uba will also need someone who can lift her up and down stairs as she still does not do stairs. Uba can go up stairs but not down stairs. Uba stumbles with stairs because she often launches herself a bit to far. This is a work in progress. Uba is up to date with all vaccines and has been spayed. Uba required cherry eye surgery when she came into foster and has recovered well from that. Uba is not a big fan of being groomed. She did make for an excellent dog for the students who groomed her because they needed to be a bit more creative in their approach with an unwilling participant. Uba will get use to being groomed with more exposure. Again, Uba just needs time to feel comfortable with new experiences. Uba will need to go to training classes to continue to work on learning about the world around her. This will help Uba with her confidence, socialization and bonding with her forever family. Uba is very smart and will learn many new skills with a family who can be consistent with her. Uba is just the sweetest, happiest and quirkiest Shih Tzu. Uba is waiting patiently for a family who can give her time and space so she can be her best self. Uba will, in typical Shih Tzu fashion, bond very closely with someone who can respect her need for patience. Uba will not start off as the snuggle dog that she currently is in her foster home but with patience she will certainly get there with her new family. Uba is so much fun to have around. She is coming out of her shell and starting to play with toys, she is learning new skills and continuing to grow her confidence. Uba will do so well with a family who can continue to work with her and let her blossom at her pace. Uba needs a quiet home and neighbourhood with someone home more often than not and a safe secure yard. She needs a family with patience and experience. Uba would like someone who will snuggle on the couch and also take her for wonderful walks hopefully in the forest. Uba is such a fun Shih Tzu and will make the best companion for her forever family. Story
🌸 AVAILABLE for ADOPTION Spring | Female | 2 yrs | Shih Tzu | Spayed | Microchipped | Vaccines - UTD Do you all remember the little Shih Tzus we took in a few months ago? The ones who came to us with very little human contact, unsure and scared of the world around them… 💔 Meet Spring 🌸 Spring has been quietly working so hard behind the scenes, and while she’s not fully “there” yet, she’s made beautiful progress in her own way. She is now spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines, and ready to find a very special home that understands her journey. While she was being spayed, the vet did note that she is missing a few of her adult teeth something we sometimes see in dogs who haven't had the best start in life. Spring is still a timid little girl. She will need time, patience, and a family who won’t expect too much too soon. When you meet her, she likely won’t come right up to you, and that’s okay. Trust for her is something that builds slowly. But once she feels safe, you start to see her shine ✨ Every morning she gets excited to see her foster and greets her with the cutest little bark and wag. She follows her around the house, wanting to be close, even if she’s not quite ready for full affection yet. She’s still learning about the world, walks are new (and right now she prefers not to move at all 😅), and stairs are a bit scary. The foster is working on it, and having another confident dog in the home could really help her continue to grow. She has not been crated and does best in a calm, patient environment where she can go at her own pace. Spring isn’t going to be the dog who runs into your arms on day one… but she will be the one who slowly, quietly chooses you, and there is nothing more special than that ❤️ If you’re willing to give her the time she needs, she will reward you in the most beautiful way. I’m eager to learn and just need a little guidance as I continue practicing. I have great manners around food and don’t guard my meals from people or other dogs. I might bark occasionally when I’m hoping for some attention, but I calm down quickly once I’m settled. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever • Understanding that I’m a young pup and will need continued guidance in socialization and basic obedience training   SPECIAL NOTES Volunteers and staff often say they can see the adorable little pug in my face! I’m super tiny and even more charming in real life—photos really don’t do justice to how cute I am. My sweet expressions and tiny features tend to melt hearts wherever I go. Story
Romeo, Romeo, where art thou, Romeo? If you're searching for a handsome little guy to steal your heart, look no further! Romeo is a neutered male Shih Tzu with a sweet disposition to match his charming name. Romeo has a few health needs that require special care. He has allergies, which are managed with daily medication and a vegetarian diet. Since starting this routine, his skin has greatly improved, and we've even been able to reduce the frequency of his medicated baths. Romeo also has dry eye and will need daily eye drops long-term to keep him comfortable. This sweet boy enjoys walks, making friends with calm dogs, and sharing quality cuddle time. Once he's had his exercise, Romeo's ideal afternoon involves lounging on the couch next to his favorite human. Romeo needs a patient adopter who understands that building trust takes time. He requires a muzzle for applying topical medications until a bond of trust is established. With consistent, gentle care, Romeo will flourish into the loving companion he's meant to be. Romeo is looking for a dedicated and peaceful home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by love and comfort. Could that be with you? Romeo has a few health needs that require special care.
