He came into rescue with hair loss due to a flea allergy. His hair is still growing back. He will need to be on a good diet and flea control to continue his hair regrowth. His eyes have some cloudiness which may explain his carefulness when he goes up and down steps. He loves to play and gets the zoomies after meals, enjoys car rides, uses pee pads, and loves to play with other dogs. He would like to be part of an active family because he loves fun!FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering. Buddy Edward is a middle-aged dude with a beer gut - we are working on his weight! He is the happiest, fattest, little Shih Tzu 'around' - he snorts like a bulldog and waddles! He came to rescue at 18 lbs and has been told by our Vet his bloodwork looks great, but his weight is a concern and obesity will cause problems. His foster has him on a diet, special kibble and only one meal a day. Buddy has curly white and tan fur. He had bald spots due to skin infections which have grown back. Due to breed - in addition to exercise, will require extensive grooming! Regular trips to the Salon *Rescue does not complete DNA testing. Breed is based on documentation provided from the original owner and Vet clinic who saw him prior to rescue. Buddy is fostered with cats, small dogs and big dogs. He loves attention and sitting on his foster mom's lap. He is leash trained and potty trained. Loves car rides and 'going anywhere. This breed has a Life Expectancy is 10-15 years. We are seeking a committed family for this piglet. Buddy came to rescue with two dog siblings after his elderly owners could not afford to care for them and taken to a small shelter. The Animal Control Officer contacted CCR and requested help - the dogs were neglected, dirty and not housetrained. They were clearly loved but owners started to struggle to care for themselves and the pets. Buddy has more housetraining than his younger dog friends. Buddy is now up to date on vaccines, dewormed for gut health, microchipped and neutered. He tested negative for heartworms and is on prevention. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee ($550.00) includes transport options to PNW (WA, UT, ID), Midwest (MN, WI, MI, OH, IL, IN) or select New England States (NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT) by pet transport partners. Sammy's life wasn't the greatest when he arrived in the rescue. At only 2 years old he is a retired puppy mill dog. He currently weights about 20 lbs. His life was spent living in a kennel pumping out puppies for the mill owner. When he was no longer needed, he was discarded. We pulled him into the rescue to start him on a brand-new life! According to his foster he "lives life on his terms". He will require another doggy friend or two in his new home to help him succeed with living in a real "home" . He does seem to prefer men over women. Sammy will require a fully fenced yard (more than 4' tall) to keep him safe as he will escape if given the opportunity! He has typical puppy mill behavior - not too sure of strangers at first - is mostly afraid of everything new. He is good on a leash, does not like a crate, and has very few/rare potty accidents! He does not live with children and being a mill dog it would be best with no children in the home. He does live with cats, dogs and farm animals and does very well with them. Patience is the key to Sammy's world...If you feel you have that and would love to give this very deserving pup a new chance in life, please follow the link below for his adoption application. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
