I have more videos on the rescue website! My name is Pepper. I weigh 7 lbs. (2/16). I am one in a litter of three. We were born around November 15. We are fostered in Mount Airy, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. Our mom weighed 7 pounds and our dad weighed 10 pounds. They were both family pets with great dispositions. We all have long bodies and short legs. We are not considered hypoallergenic or non-shedding since we are mixed breed puppies. We are well socialized and very loving. We love being held and petted, and we always greet our foster mom at the door with wagging tails and lots of kisses. We love to play with toys and with each other. We do like to chew on fingers and toes so we definitely need some training in this area. We have a medium energy level. We are working on house training. We sleep in a crate every night and we have learned not to potty in our crate. As soon as our crate door is opened every morning we run straight to the door to go outside and potty. We are good with the other dogs and love to play with them. I am the boldest of the three and the first to try anything new. I love to snooze in my foster’s lap! We provide hours of entertainment to our foster mom just watching us play. We are pretty typical puppies - we eat, sleep, play, and then start all over again. We have so much love to give and we are ready to go to our new forever homes! We will not be adopted in to homes with small children because we are so small. We are up-to-date on our puppy shots and we have been dewormed. We have already had a check up by the veterinarian. Story

Richie is an 8-10 year old male Shih Tzu / Poodle mix. We don’t know anything about his past life other than he was horribly neglected and likely abused. He deserves a soft place to land where he feels loved and secure. Richie is blind and appears to have limited hearing which leaves him dependent for most things. But honestly he doesn’t ask for much! He is comfortable and happy to spend his days lounging on the couch, cuddled up with his humans and hanging out in the fenced yard at his foster home. It’s going to be important to keep his environment safe and unchanged as he learns and adjusts to his new home. Richie lost his left eye likely due to trauma. He has a mature cataract and anterior lens luxation in his right eye which means the lens has slipped in front of the pupil and iris. He was evaluated by an eye specialist and is not a candidate for cataract surgery. He tested negative for dry eye and glaucoma in his right eye but is at high risk for both due to the mature cataract. He will need to have the eye rechecked in September. It’s possible he may need his right eye removed at some point if he were to develop complications from the cataract. Richie is good with the other dogs in his foster home but he doesn’t like to play and he’s happy to be left alone. Richie is house-trained. He has never had an accident in his foster home! He doesn’t ask to go out so he needs to be taken outside on a schedule but he knows what to do from there. We have tried to work with him on stairs in/out of the house but so far he’s just too afraid so he needs to be carried up/down stairs. It’s possible he might do better with a ramp, as he does get on/off the couch using a stair ramp. Richie’s wish list includes a spot on your bed. He sleeps through the night and will adjust to your schedule. It makes him feel safe and secure to have you close by. Richie would do best in a home where he is not left alone for long periods of time. He does okay while you’re away, he’s not destructive at all but sometimes gets anxious. He has crate anxiety so that is not an option for him. The good news is he does fine when loose in the house. Kids age 10+ who can understand his special needs okay. He will need to be groomed on a regular basis. He doesn’t like to have his face and paws groomed so he will need an experienced groomer. We are requiring a securely fenced yard where he can be safe and enjoy his time outside. No invisible fences/no exceptions. We realize Richie will take a very special adopter. Someone who is willing to let Richie live his life without expectations. He deserves a life of comfort and love.
