Yes, or someone at home with her during the day Location: Springfield, OH Energy Level (High/Med/Low) High Meet Roxie- a 7-8 month old Shih Tzu released from a puppy mill. Roxie had her visit at Med Vet today a was diagnosed with a grade I functional heart murmur which is wonderful news.  Functional heart murmurs are nothing concerning, quite common and she may possibily grow out of it!   Now that we can stop holding our breath about her heart, we can find her fur-ever family!  Roxie is a dream dog- she is so sweet and meets everyone with a kiss.  She has adapted quite well into our crazy household and plays well with the cats and other small dog.  She is rather intimidated by our boxer and will bark and growl fiercely, then run behind your legs.  We are working on housebreaking and she will go outside to potty when reminded, but at this point does not give cues of her own.  She will slow down in the evening long enough to sit on your lap while watching tv, but throughout the day, she's just looking for things to get into.  She does like to chew and needs to be redirected regularly.  She does great at night, sleeping on the foot of the bed, although it does take her a few minutes to settle down.   She never wants to be away from her people and settles wherever she can touch you. I feel that Roxie would do best in a home with another small dog that will continue to teach her how to be a dog.   Roxie will be spayed soon, up to date on all of her vaccines, microchipping and started on flea & heartworm meds. ***PLEASE READ*** WE DO NOT RESPOND TO PETFINDER OR EMAIL INQUIRIES. This senior doggo came to DASH from a rural shelter in northern KY after he was found as a stray. He is blind, and can you imagine wandering outside in the winter and not being able to see anything! This guy is so sweet and so gentle, all he wants is a soft bed and blanket or a lap to hang out in, good food and he is content. We recommend a fenced in yard just so he can have a safe place to go out and potty and just hang out in the warmer weather if he wants. He would be ok with older respectful kids, and he gets along fine with the other dogs in his foster home. He has not been cat tested, but feel he would be fine with them as long as they give him his space. His ideal home would have minimal steps as he can navigate one or two steps, but more than that would be too much. He is really just ready to find his forever person to spend his golden years with being spoiled rotten. Re-homing because insurance company determination. He startled an elderly woman who fell on her bottom in my driveway. When she charged x-ray to my homeowners ins., underwriters said they’d drop me. I adopted him 6 months ago from Franklin County Shelter. Vet said he was 7-10 years old and in good health. He was a stray for a long time and developed some bad habits. He’s a beautiful, loving dog, loves to lay on your lap. He’s a great walking partner and companion. Issues: accidents but not daily. Frequent breaks and puppy pads work. He is very reactive, jumping, barking at dogs and people when on leash, but off leash (when he has gotten out) anyone, male or female, can interact with him and he’s friendly. Strangers have held him for me. He is also reactive when strangers come to the door. We worked with an in-home trainer for 5 weeks and made good progress. He can come when called, sit, and walk comfortably on leash. Reactivity calmed, but still needs more training.
