Story
Hello good friends. My name is Oscar and I`m a shy little guy in need of some TLC in a forever home. While I`m shy at first, I warm up quickly when you talk to me in a gentle voice. I love affection and I`ll climb into your lap for my midday snoozes once I trust you. I hope my forever home will have lots of little sweaters and a big fluffy bed for me! I currently weight ~10 lbs but I need to gain some weight to look and feel my best - please speak with your veterinarian about an appropriate weight-gain plan for me.How did I get here? Transferred from Wake County Animal Center where I was brought as a stray. ~My adoption fee is $120.00.~

Meet Mila and Mason – A Special Bonded Pair Looking for Their Perfect Home! Mila and Mason are two of the sweetest pups you’ll ever meet. Despite coming from a challenging start, they are full of love, snuggles, and hope for a bright future together. This bonded pair shares an incredible connection and needs to be adopted as a duo. About Mila and Mason:Mila has a bit more mobility than Mason and is quite the determined little lady—she pulls herself along like a champion in an adorable army crawl and even makes her way to the pee pads when she needs to potty. Mason, on the other hand, finds movement a bit tougher, but he gives it his best effort with a little help and wears a belly band for added support. What Makes Them Special: Built-In Best Friends: Mila and Mason keep each other entertained and are a source of comfort and joy to one another. Amazing Snugglers: They love to cuddle up, whether it’s with each other or with their favorite humans. Easy Daily Care: Their care routine is straightforward. Each morning involves a quick clean-up, putting on Mason’s belly band, some snuggles, and feeding. During the day, a few minutes of stretching for Mason helps keep him comfortable. No Major Medical Needs: While they have limited mobility, Mila and Mason are not on any expensive medications and don’t require major medical procedures in the foreseeable future. Daily Life with Mila and Mason:These two love spending time with their people and enjoy fresh air outside. Their personalities are shining brighter every day as they grow more comfortable and confident. They adore other dogs and find joy in snuggling whenever they can. While their bodies may not allow them to move like typical pups, Mila and Mason are mentally sharp, curious, and full of life. They deserve a loving home that sees them for who they are—wonderful, resilient, and endlessly lovable. If you’re ready to open your heart to this special pair and give them the long, happy life they deserve, they will reward you with endless love and devotion. We are only charging one adoption fee for both pups to ensure they go and stay together. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Gertrude or Gerti for short is an adorable, sassy and sweet senior gal. She was surrendered by her owner after personal medical expenses became too much. Gertrude has a lifetime eye drop and allergy care. She is a dream on a walk, with dogs, with people, you name it she's perfect for it. She adores attention but will make her self known before interacting. She is not the best at first meetings and leans towards a more defensive nature if pushed to interact. She needs regular grooming with her allergies and breed coat. She adores all attention so she loves all the grooming. She was a little wiggly for nails but with the work we have put in she is doing wonderfully for dremeling. Her coat has completely grown back and you wouldn't know all the issues she had previously just looking at her. She is realizing that the medications are not actually hurting her and feeling better so she has been doing well with medications she has understand that only good things are coming from people giving her these weird things. She will have a lifelong eye and skin medication. She has a weekly medicated bath. She will need someone knowledgeable in administering medications for dogs.    Cute videos of some Gerti antics   https://www.facebook.com/reel/752144840288745   https://www.facebook.com/reel/705576118401783Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 2:18 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application ›   Chloe and Lilly are a heartwarming mother-daughter duo looking for a loving home together. Chloe, at 2 years old, is a playful, affectionate pup who will happily follow you everywhere you go. She’s a big fan of snuggles and is especially good with kids, making her a wonderful little companion. Chloe is partially house-trained, but there’s still some room for learning – she’d thrive with a bit more guidance and patience! Lilly, Chloe’s 8-year-old mom, is equally friendly and very gentle. She’s an easy-going girl who gets along with everyone she meets and loves to stay close by your side. Both dogs aren’t used to harnesses or leashes, so walks aren’t their thing just yet. However, they would likely be ideal for a home with a fenced yard where they can enjoy safe outdoor time without needing to be leashed. These two Shih Tzus are inseparable, so they need a home that’s ready to welcome both of them. If you’re looking for double the love, Chloe and Lilly could be the perfect pair for you!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 19, 2024, 11:44 am

Story
PAISLEY is a 9 yr old spayed female SHI TZU. She is WHITE and weighs about 8- 9lbs. This baby girl needs a home that someone is retired or can spend tons of time with her. She is THE MOST LOVING little one we've had in quite some time. She is spayed, groomed, will potty outdoors but much prefers her pee pad (taught from her owner) We don't use a crate, unless we take along trip. Paisley is heartworm negative, dewormed, rabies, UTD on vaccines and microchipped. So a little about her background, we got her from a protective custody situation. Her owner was 88 yrs old, got her when she was only a puppy. Loved her to no end, took THE BEST care of her. She became ill with cancer and her best friend and neighbor of over 70 yrs helped with shopping and driving. They were both widows, and married friends from the service, the two couple did everything together, including building homes next to one another. Fast forward, the owner had 3 so called grown kids in their 50's all with addiction issues and once she became very ill they all moved in with her, but not to care for Mother as you would suspect, but to take advantage and spend her money. Time goes by and the neighbor sees her friend less and less. She wakes in the wee hours of the night of a bright light shining in her bedroom. She looks out to find the 3 adults kicking this poor girl, Paisley off a deck more than 20' off the ground out into the yard like a football and then toss her back, laughing and having a grand time. She calls the Sheriff Dept, they come out, but the worst has yet to be discovered. The Deputy smells a very strong odor and has reason to enter the home to find THEIR MOTHER was deceased and had been several days. All 3 were arrested, two got out quickly, one didn't as they has previous warrants. The neighbor offers to keep the dog, thinking that was the end of it. But it wasn't. She takes Paisley to the vet to find they has shattered her optical nerve in the right eye. About a month later as she was returning from shopping and taking Paisley to the groomer, she comes home to the Fire Dept at her home and her home has been set on fire. This story goes on and on. But the bottom of it is,the 90 yr old lady was so scared of what may be next and not sure who set the house on fire, she asked our rescue to please take this baby and save her. We took her but couldn't do anything other than foster for quite some time. She is now ready to move to her forever home and get the life she had with her owner and live healthy. Paisley is so loving and will be in your chair before you are so you both can get comfy. She requires sleeping on the bed with you. You will need to put her up there as she is only 9lbs of pure joy, love and a little sassy to go with it. This baby LOVES our 10yr old grandson. He can't walk in the room she doesn't sit with him. If he's outdoors, she will watch him at the door if he's nearby. She is good on harness and leash. She is great for the groomer, she goes every 2 weeks for baths, on the 6th week she is groomed. We never leave her outside alone. Anything could happen, hawk, coyotes, fox, due to her small size and this is very true for daytime as well. She has learned stuffed toys are the best thing ever and she loves to play with them in the morning and late evening before bedtime. She loves riding but it does take her a few minutes to settle in and then she is fine. She is great with two large dogs here, and 8-10 small ones, still larger than her. She is the boss and keeps them all in line. Paisley has developed some allergies so she is on a small amount of apoquel. We recently started using a different food and lessening the apoquel and she is doing awesome. So we think with diet change, she may be able to discontinue the meds. This family will miss her tremendously, she has grown on us. But we take them in to love them, teach them, and rehabilitate them if needed and find them a forever family. I will be very picky of who adopts this baby girl. She has been through the mill and I only want the very best for her. Her fee is $150. We do not ship animals, nor do we hold animals. If you aren't ready to adopt now, please do not apply until you're ready. We are all volunteers and you will need to be patient as we get your application processed.(up to 14 days, not including Sunday) PAISLEY is being fostered in Durham, NC. You must be willing to drive there for pick up at adoption time. Please do NOT complete an application on this site, we cannot retrieve it and we never charge for completing an application. Story
Little Girl Breed: Cavalier or Papillion or Shih Tzu mix- Or a mix with Tibetan Spaniel! Gender: Female, spayed DOB: 1-8-2022 Weight: approx. 10 pounds Microchipped Adoption Fee: $375 This sweetheart is just as cute as she can be! She is housebroken, pee pad trained, and crate trained. She knows her basic commands. She can walk nicely on a leash. She gets along with other dogs and loves her humans! Little Girl still has a bit of insecurity and can end up with a submissive pee incident at greetings and with high excitement. The best solution for this, in addition to ongoing training, is to limit all greetings to outside. This means that when you get home and remove her from her crate, you don't touch her, talk to her, or engage her until you are outdoors! The less interactions she have physically and verbally at initial greeting, the better the submissive wetting will get! Little Girl loves to chew on a nylabone or bully stick! She enjoys squeaky toys, as well! She plays like a maniac with her foster siblings, but does need continued monitoring for appropriate play- she doesn't always get the cues of other dogs on when play is over or unwanted. She will need guidance in this area. When on walks Little Girl does great with handlers that require she walk politely by their side. When allowed to go where she wants when she wants and do what she wants when she wants- well, she wants to run after the squirrel and leap at other dogs while barking wildly with abandon. This, unfortunately, causes fear and anxiety for other people, dogs and animals. She is slowly learning to be polite and we are seeking a home that will take the time to help her be a better dog on walks! She's doing great in her foster home and is a fun little girl! Good w/ Other Dogs- Yes Good w/ Cats- No Energy Level- Moderate Children- No Grooming Needs- Moderate to high Walks on Leash- Yes Special Needs- No Knows basic commands- Learning! Experienced Home- Required Good First Time Dog- No Rides well in car- Yes Crate Trained- Yes Low Allergen- We don't think so Good apartment dog- No Fenced Yard- Required Adoptive homes within one hour of the Raleigh area. All HEART dogs have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies, kennel cough, distemper, parvo, adenovirus, and hepatitis. All dogs over the age of six months are tested for heartworms and, if they test positive, have either been treated or provided alternative slow-kill treatment. Dogs are provided monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Dogs are also provided additional medical care, as needed.
