Jessie is a mostly sweet boy who, once he overcomes his initial distrust of people, bonds quickly with his humans. He loves to sit with his people and just chill, but he also enjoys playing with other dogs. Jessie has an old back injury which has resulted in some weakness in his hind legs. Even though he walks a little funny, he does not let that stop him in the least! He can hold his own during playtime with other dogs. Jessie is not fond of the groomer, but is just fine unless the groomer is working on his face or feet. We believe that he was abused in the past, but is thriving in a home where he is loved.     Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications. We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine. The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match. ##2082876##

Story
  This black beauty Shih Tzu girl is as fabulous as the woman she is named after!  Elizabeth Taylor is just adorable and so full of personality and life! It is rare to find such a well adjusted and gorgeous senior girl in a rescue situation but alas her mom was placed in hospice care and the family was consumed with caring for the human and could not keep this girl.    At 12 years of age Elizabeth is looking for a home to bless with her wonderful love and sweetness.  She loves life and all the animals she meets and especially the people who tell her she is “pretty” and talk nicely to her.  Elizabeth does require some maintenance with medication for her allergies.  A weekly allergy shot, a small pill called Apoquel daily and a Blue Buffalo dry food  with a little warm water to moisten.  Yes, Elizabeth Taylor has some “Princess” needs that are to be expected of the Shih Tzu breed as a senior.  She has a little dry eye wipe needed daily with a few drops of eye medication.  All these things are pretty normal for the Shih Tzu breed.  She loves the eye drops and we think they must feel really good.  This sweet starlet loves to go to bed early and sleep late.  She does not require much except that you do the meds and give her love.  She will return to your life the most amazing companionship and devotion you could ever want.  She is housebroken and barks when she needs to go outside to potty.  She is only 18 pounds and would be perfect for an empty nest couple or a retired person who lives alone and wants her sweet companionship.  She will need grooming every 2-3 months and of course the allergy medications must be continued from what has been started for her.   She is charming, gorgeous and a girl you will never regret taking home.  If you are interested please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 6, 2024, 6:14 pm

My name is Princess Mimi and I am a precious 10 lb, 7-year-old, purebred Shih Tzu girl that was saved from a shelter in Florida. It seems that my mom died and her family did not want me so they just took me to the shelter and left me there. I was so confused along with being heartbroken over losing my mom. A very kind rescue lady who was in the Florida area visiting with her sick dad, saw that I was in this shelter and came to get me. A shelter is no place for a princess as you know. I was terrified. But I'm now on my way back to Tennessee where they will fully vet me and spay me. I am a very healthy girl and the only thing I need in life besides lots of love and your commitment for the rest of my life, is just a little medication for my dry eyes.  I am potty trained and can work on real housebreaking to go outside if needed. I would need you to be consistent with me on that since my former mom just put down pee pads and I was happy to use those. I would love to go for long walks everyday and would love to sit on your lap and look at you with all the love I have in my heart.
