Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue:12/3/2024 Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sterling is a beautiful, five-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart full of love and a quiet, calm demeanor. She's currently living on at the farm surrounded by other dogs and lots of happy dog noise. While this is exactly the environment she came from, it is not a life she wants to keep living. Sterling is looking for far different. Sterling is looking for a calm, Zen-like environment where she can enjoy quiet moments with her adopter. She would love to curl up in your lap or snuggle by your side for some quality time. Ideally, she would thrive in a home with a patient, gentle adopter—whether it's a single person or a couple. If there are children, they should be older and calm, as Sterling needs a low-stress, quiet environment to truly feel comfortable and thrive. Because Sterling is still adjusting to a new life outside of a stressful situation, she would do best with an adopter who is home most of the day. She’s a bit shy and reserved, and having someone around to offer companionship and reassurance will help her gain confidence. With time, patience, and lots of love, she will blossom into the loyal and affectionate companion you’ve been searching for. Sterling is a bit shy and timid. She tends to hide or retreat to her crate when she feels unsure, but she enjoys the attention, pets, and love she receives from her caregivers. While she’s not yet the first to approach people, Sterling has shown that she loves being carried like a baby and being petted. Over time, she’ll open up more as she builds trust with her new family. Sterling has never been without the company of her own kind. We think she will transition to only dog status (with you giving her a ton of support) but if you have a smaller, calm dog at home she may be able to model her behavior after your dog and quickly learn to be a wonderful pet. We do not know if she knows her basic commands, but spending time teaching her will be a wonderful way for the two of you to bond. Sterling is still learning about life outside of a busy, dog centric environment, and we’re helping her build confidence each day. She may not yet know basic commands, but working with her on these skills will be a great way to bond and build trust together. If you’re ready to offer Sterling the quiet, loving home she deserves, she’ll be waiting for you. She can’t wait to curl up in your arms and start the next chapter of her life with you. What is my personality like? Currently Sterling is very shy, reserved, and timid. We are working with her to help her gain confidence. A forever home will do wonders for her as she seems a bit overwhelmed by her current surroundings. How do I act when I first meet new people? When meeting new people, Sterling is a bit shy and won't immediately approach you. However, she will accept pets and loves being gently picked up and loved on. With patience and care, she’ll start to show you her true, affectionate self. Other tips and tidbits: Sterling was born on or around 12/2/2019. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. December 24, 2024, 9:20 pm
