First he's sour, then he's sweet. Much like a sour patch kid, Oscar is the definition of a rascal. The 13-pound, 7-year-old pup was surrendered to Pets Alive because he has one issue: He's a biter! While someone attempted to adopt Oscar recently, he just wasn't having it. So alas, this boy is back at the shelter, and we're working on training to determine his triggers. Given his selective attitude, Oscar is best suited for a dog-savvy home without children.

Laylabelle's only been with us a short while, and we can't believe the change we've seen in the short time she's been here! When she first came to us, she was shut down and scared to be in a completely new place from what she'd known. She had been surrendered to the NYC ACC when her family had been evicted from their home and her whole life was turned upside down. While we hate that she had to be separated from her family, it might have very well saved her life, because it was at the ACC where they discovered she had pyometra (which is an infection in her uterus) and she was spayed to remove the infection before she came to us. She's currently healing well from the spay, but did develop an umbilical hernia that will be fixed before she's ready to head to her forever home. Shortly after Laylabelle arrived at Wayward, we found out that one of the dogs she had been surrendered with was still in one of the ACC shelters, so we reached out to see if we would be able to pull him and reunite the two of them, hoping that with one of her friends back with her, she would be happier and start to come out of her shell. And boy, were we right! The other dog, who we've name Jack, has made Laylabelle SO happy. Our guess, based on their ages and how they act with eachother, is that Jack is most likely her son, but we don't know that for sure. What we do know is that we can't bare to separate them again, so we are looking for a home for the two of them together! They are both sweet, gentle, and trusting little dogs who are looking for a home to love the two of them! Laylabelle also wants the whole world to know how happy she is to be reunited with Jack, and proudly tells everyone during their walks together. Meet Quartz.. Pics are before and after grooming What a handsome mostly white Hypoallergenic guy.. This sweet boy was rejected from a NY pet store. The new law is requiring all NY pet stores to stop selling pups in these store as of Dec 15th. Stores are canceling orders and rejecting pups like crazy. We were not planning on taking on so many pups, but we could not leave him on the truck, to most likely go back to a mill where his fate would be unknown. Quartz is a 13 week old male Teddy Bear. A Teddy Bear is a mix of Shihtzu and Bichon. Considered fully hypoallergenic. This breed is very popular. We estimate his full growth weight to be under 15 pounds. He is quite petite. Quartz is very sweet, social and playful. He is adjusting well in his foster home and having a blast with the other pups. Using a wee wee pad for potty training. Meet Snow..... What a Gorgeous boy.... Snow came to us from a puppy mill in Wisconsin. He was able to come into the rescue because the pet stores did not book him. They felt his short legs were not cute enough for stores. Snow is a 13 week old male Shihtzu / Yorkie mix. He is considered fully hypoallergenic. His current weight is around 6 pounds. We estimate his full growth weight to be around 15 pounds. We love his short legs. His coloring is very unique, and his hair is similar to a Silky Terrier. Snow is very social and playful. He is adjusting well in his foster home and having so much fun with the other pups and toys. Using a wee wee pad for potty training. Meet Laura..... Sweet Retired Breeding Mom.. Laura was recently retired from a life of breeding for a puppy mill. This poor girl has probably had multiple litters and made lots of money for the mill. Laura is a 4 year old female Shihtzu mix. Considered fully hypoallergenic. Laura is very scared, and trying to adjust to home living. Typical behavior from a breeding mom from these mills. Laura weighs 13 pounds and seems to be in great health. Bloodwork was done at the vets office and everything looks good. We would want to place Laura in a home where the family understands her needs and will have patience with her. She will come out of her shell and will be a fantastic companion for someone. We prefer a home without young kids. Laura is fine with other dogs and cats. She uses a wee wee pad and the outdoors for potty training. Being fostered in Butler NJ *** Spay and Dental appointment is on Jan 16th. We can do a foster to adopt - we woukd need her back for this appointment. Or Laura can be adopted with zero adoption fee and her spay and dental would be covered by the adopters.
