Story
Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet.HAZEL says 'HI' and she would love to have a home of her own to love and care for her.  She loves to get her head rubbed and just hang out with her human to be close.  She is a great cuddler and just loves to hang around you.   At 3 years old and 12 pounds she makes a great companion for any family that is willing to let her hang out with you and just give her the love and attention she so deserves. HAZEL and her son were owner surrendered to me by a backyard breeder who only had the dogs in her home to make money.  Surprisingly HAZEL has a great, quiet and mild temperament with no aggression in any area.  When I put her out to potty I have to make sure to leave her out a while because she tries to get right back in to follow me around the house. If you are interested in adopting HAZEL, please submit an application on the website below.  Thank you. www.roxysk9rescue.org     ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes  spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to you.  Thank you.         November 8, 2024, 8:59 am

Story
Introducing Cookie, a brave Shih Tzu who's finally stepping out of her old world as a retired puppy mill mom and looking to embrace a brighter, kinder life. This gentle girl has spent years in less-than-happy circumstances, but she's ready now to meet a family who will show her what it means to be cherished. All About Cookie: Age: 6 years young Breed: Shih Tzu Personality: Cookie is a delicate, shy little lady who's still learning that people can be wonderful friends. She's hesitant but oh-so-sweet, greeting her humans with a waggy, barky fanfare each time they enter. Though she's curious about people, she's more of a "watch from a distance fan than a cuddle bug right now. Sudden movements make her wary, and she's not one for being picked up-but she'll eagerly keep a loving eye on her humans, checking in to make sure everyone's alright. With soft beds, tasty treats, and gentle words, she'll thrive in a home that doesn't expect instant snuggles. Special Needs: Cookie's still getting comfortable with home life, and she's working on her trust and house-training. With patience and a gentle approach, her loving nature is sure to blossom over time. Doggy Friends: Other dogs are her comfort zone! Cookie absolutely needs a calm canine buddy who can be her guide and help her gain confidence in her new home. A kind, gentle dog will be the friend she needs to feel truly secure. The Perfect Home for Cookie: Doggy Companions: Cookie thrives with a friendly dog sibling by her side. Having a buddy is a must! Patient, Understanding Family: A family who will give her time to trust and love at her own pace. Calm, Quiet Environment: A peaceful home with gentle routines will be ideal, helping Cookie slowly adjust to life as a loved family member. If you're ready to give Cookie the safe, loving home she's been waiting for, she's ready to meet you. Be part of her journey as she transforms from a life of hardship to a world filled with love, patience, and the joy of true companionship. Please give your veterinarian permission to provide a reference prior to applying, and let us know once you've done so.

Story
Thank You DelleBovi Family! Flynn was born about October 4, 2014 and weighs about 22 lbs.  He is as cute as they come and was released from his puppy making days in a puppy mill in West Virginia.  The 'millers' made a call to the humane society and said they no longer needed the services of 29 dogs and would they take them.  The shelter is a kill shelter due to space and could not handle so many dogs and so they asked if we would take them.  How could we not!  So, we squeezed and adjusted and were able to take them all.  Sadly, Flynn has failed two adoptions as after a decent length of time they still could not touch him nor would he stay in the same room as them.  He is wonderful with the other dogs here and is now considered a Joyful Rescues Sanctuary pet.  He can seldom be touched and if he is it is not for long and when we must 'catch' him to be groomed we must use a towel to protect our hands because he will bite.  He does happily live inside the house with the humans who live and work here as long as they are not forcing themselves on him, which we do not unless absolutely necessary such as hair trimming.  It is felt Flynn is living his best life right where he is and is a very happy boy.  From Dr. Rasnake: There is mild pegmentary keratitis which is likely from hair rubbing on the surface of the eye.  This condition may be the result of improper hygiene/grooming.  His future family will need to be diligent to keep hair cut short around his eyes so this does not worsen.  He still can see, but there is some cloudiness.  Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Odie was born around August 23, 2013 and weighs about 8 pounds. Odie and his brother Chief are with us because his human passed away unexpectedly at a very young age.  We spoke with Chief and Odie's foster mom recently, and after some careful consideration, we've decided that they need to be adopted together. While we don't typically do this, we feel strongly that it's in the best interest of both dogs. They have a very strong bond, and separating them at this stage could be detrimental to their well-being. We understand this may present a unique adoption situation, but we're hopeful that these two deserving brothers will find the perfect home. Odie does well with all the other dogs here, and we have been told he is fine with cats and children.  Odie rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash.    Chief will also stick with you when you are outside doing chores.   You will have some potty training work to do but he has the basics down he just needs routine.  Odie received a much-needed dental on arrival and he has some age-related arthritis that would benefit from a Rimadyl type product from your vet.  He's rather active for a 12-year-old pup and gets around wonderfully!    Chief & Odie would like their next home to be their last.  A home that will cherish these boys for however long they have left and never let them feel heartbreak again.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $350.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
