Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Pretty little Shia is available for adoption! Shia is a local girl who came to us when her owner had to move and couldn’t take her along. She is a Shih Tzu mix, about 8 years old, and weighs around 15 pounds. Shia has an adorable underbite, so be prepared to say "Toothers!" to her often! Shia is doing well in her foster home. She has made friends with the little Chihuahuas, and since she has always been around other dogs, this was no surprise. While she'd be happy to have another small friend in her new home, it’s not a requirement. Shia has lived in an apartment her whole life and is used to being walked to go potty, which she does nicely. Her foster home has a fully fenced yard that she enjoys, too. Shia hasn’t quite mastered navigating stairs; she can go up just fine, but going down is challenging for her, and she tends to jump down, which can be a little scary. If you have stairs in your home, you may need to carry her down until she learns to navigate them better. Shia is crate trained, but when she wants out, she will bark—a loud bark at that! She’ll also let you know if she thinks you’re slow in getting her breakfast or dinner; she loves her food and treats, especially cheese, which seems to be her favorite. While Shia hasn’t been around kids in her foster home, we believe she would be fine with them. She is not aggressive at all, but she is past the days of playing with kids and would prefer to be a little lap dog queen, which we think is just fine. Shia does well in the car and enjoys going for rides. Shia has been professionally groomed and will require regular grooming throughout her life. She does not appear to shed either. Shia is now spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  She also had a dental to clean those toothers up and she is looking and feeling great!  Her adoption fee is $450  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 1, 2024, 7:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Toby is on the lookout for his perfect forever home! This adorable Shih Tzu is just 2 to 3 years old and weighs a cute 12 pounds. He and his sister Tori came to us from Texas, and after a bit of TLC, they're looking absolutely fabulous! Toby is such a sweet boy. He loves being snuggled and held, and when you pick him up, he just melts into you—it’s clear he thrives on love and affection! He does get along well with other dogs but likes to keep things in check, so he might play the role of the “Fun Police” when the energy gets too high. As for cats, he’s lives with a couple and his foster home and does fine, although he might give them a little bark here and there. He’s also quite the little watchdog, alerting you to anything out of his ordinary routine! Toby is crate trained and is currently polishing up his leash skills. He seems to be house-trained and will use potty pads when the weather doesn’t cooperate. He has a wonderful fenced yard to play in, and he truly loves being outdoors! He’s been around older kids and did wonderfully, so we think he’ll do great with little ones too, thanks to his gentle nature. When Toby first arrived at PMR, he was quite matted and dirty, but after a professional grooming, he’s feeling like a superstar! Just a heads-up—he’ll need regular grooming to keep looking his best. If you're looking for a sweet companion, Toby might just be the perfect match for you! Toby is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $500Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 1, 2024, 7:11 pm

Story
Introducing Cookie, a brave Shih Tzu who's finally stepping out of her old world as a retired puppy mill mom and looking to embrace a brighter, kinder life. This gentle girl has spent years in less-than-happy circumstances, but she's ready now to meet a family who will show her what it means to be cherished. All About Cookie: Age: 6 years young Breed: Shih Tzu Personality: Cookie is a delicate, shy little lady who's still learning that people can be wonderful friends. She's hesitant but oh-so-sweet, greeting her humans with a waggy, barky fanfare each time they enter. Though she's curious about people, she's more of a "watch from a distance fan than a cuddle bug right now. Sudden movements make her wary, and she's not one for being picked up-but she'll eagerly keep a loving eye on her humans, checking in to make sure everyone's alright. With soft beds, tasty treats, and gentle words, she'll thrive in a home that doesn't expect instant snuggles. Special Needs: Cookie's still getting comfortable with home life, and she's working on her trust and house-training. With patience and a gentle approach, her loving nature is sure to blossom over time. Doggy Friends: Other dogs are her comfort zone! Cookie absolutely needs a calm canine buddy who can be her guide and help her gain confidence in her new home. A kind, gentle dog will be the friend she needs to feel truly secure. The Perfect Home for Cookie: Doggy Companions: Cookie thrives with a friendly dog sibling by her side. Having a buddy is a must! Patient, Understanding Family: A family who will give her time to trust and love at her own pace. Calm, Quiet Environment: A peaceful home with gentle routines will be ideal, helping Cookie slowly adjust to life as a loved family member. If you're ready to give Cookie the safe, loving home she's been waiting for, she's ready to meet you. Be part of her journey as she transforms from a life of hardship to a world filled with love, patience, and the joy of true companionship. Please give your veterinarian permission to provide a reference prior to applying, and let us know once you've done so.

Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet.If you are not able to view the pictures please email me and I will send them to you.  Sorry for any inconvience. HOTCH is 18 months old and weighs 14 pounds and came in with his sister HILLARY.  They were found on the streets just sitting in the pouring rain and they looked a mess.  Can provide pictures of them found. This brother and sister duo are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together.  HOTCH is the more cuddly with me and likes to just hang out with me on the couch watching TV.  HILLARY is more social and playful with the other dogs in my home.  She is especially close to 2 tiny chihuahua's I have.  They may look a little mean or reserved but they are happy and have come a long way since coming into my home.  They walk very well on a leash without pulling and riding in the car without getting sick.  They love treats, chicken jerky treats! Both are completely healthy and playful but quiet and calm.  If you are interested in adopted them, please submit an application on the website below.  Thank you, www.roxysk9rescue.org     ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes  spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to you.  Thank you.         October 27, 2024, 10:23 am

Hillary and her brother Hotch came to me at the beginning of the year after being found just sitting on the street in the pouring rain.  They looked a mess.  They were always nice and quiet when they came in but they are happy and playing with all of the other dogs in my home even though it looks like they have a mean scroll on their face. Both are 18 months old and weigh 14 pounds.  Hillary has a bum leg due to a very old injury.  I considered amputation but the leg is not in her way or bothering her.  I have attached a video of her walking so you can see she is NOT special needs and nothing needs to be done to keep her healthy.  There is no maintenance for the leg or anything to keep her comfortable.  Both walk well on the leash, no pulling and ride in the car without getting sick.  They really do not play with toys but rather each other.  Their energy level is low considering how young they are. Hillary and Hotch are a bonded pair and have to be adopted together. They love to be loved on and are a sweet pair.  Hotch is more of the snuggler and sticks close to me.  Hillary is more social with the other dogs in my home.  I have more pictures I can provide of them.
