Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Dixie do da day is ready to skedaddle out of her foster home and join her forever family. Dixie is an 18-pound, 10-year-old Shih Tzu mix who traveled from Texas in hopes of finding her retirement home. Being an older dog in a shelter in Texas can mean a death sentence, but we know Dixie will be scooped up quickly in WNY.    Dixie takes her retirement very seriously. All she truly wants is to lounge in her bed all day. She will emerge from her bed in order to go outside, or if there is food involved. Dixie loves food. She was definitely spoiled with human food in her previous home. When you are eating, or if she is hungry, Dixie will stare into you soul, with her huge eyes. While she sits and stares at you, she will whine and stomp her front feet at you. You can’t deny her a little taste of what you’re eating. Her eyes won’t let you.    Dixie is fully housebroken and is leash trained. We do expect accidents during her initial transition. She does get along with other dogs but can be slightly food aggressive with other dogs. She won’t snap or bite, but she will growl at them if they get too close to her food when she’s eating. It’s not an issue with people though. Dixie does have a fully fenced in yard in her foster home. She has picked up on the routine quickly. If she needs to go out, once again she will go to the door, bark and stomp her feet. She also asks to go for her daily walk. As soon as she sees the leash, Dixie knows it’s time. Dixie will bark and alert you when she hears noises around your house. Apartment life is probably not ideal for her. She has a loud deep bark for a little girl. Due to her age, a home with older children, 10+, would probably be best. A quiet home where she can just relax. If you think Dixie is the right dog for you, make sure you apply today.  Dixie was recently diagnosed with a grade 3 murmur. Currently she is on Enalapril twice a day. The enalapril helps to open up the blood vessels that go to her heart. The dilation of these blood vessels helps her heart so they are not working as hard to pump the blood. Dixie takes the pill like a champ too. It is added to her food twice a day and she gobbles it right up!  Enalapril is relatively inexpensive and will cost approximately $6 a month.  Dixie is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $400Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 3, 2024, 7:01 pm

Story
Pal is extremely loyal and has been a constant companion to my father since my mother's passing three years ago. However, this loyalty leads him to resource guard my father when others approach. Due to medical concerns with my 92 year-old father, we must rehome Pal. He has never been around other animals and is not fully housebroken, but will go outside to do his business when asked. We believe he will thrive in a single person household and spends much of his time sitting in dad's chair with him or sleeping next to him on his bed. It's heartbreaking for us to need to rehome pal, but we have little option now.

Story
Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet.If you are not able to view the pictures please email me and I will send them to you.  Sorry for any inconvience. HOTCH is 18 months old and weighs 14 pounds and came in with his sister HILLARY.  They were found on the streets just sitting in the pouring rain and they looked a mess.  Can provide pictures of them found. This brother and sister duo are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together.  HOTCH is the more cuddly with me and likes to just hang out with me on the couch watching TV.  HILLARY is more social and playful with the other dogs in my home.  She is especially close to 2 tiny chihuahua's I have.  They may look a little mean or reserved but they are happy and have come a long way since coming into my home.  They walk very well on a leash without pulling and riding in the car without getting sick.  They love treats, chicken jerky treats! Both are completely healthy and playful but quiet and calm.  If you are interested in adopted them, please submit an application on the website below.  Thank you, www.roxysk9rescue.org     ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes  spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to you.  Thank you.         July 5, 2024, 7:42 am
