** Canine companion required **Meet Rosalina, an 11 lb Shih Tzu mix that spent her life being used for breeding. Because of her background, she's extremely shy around people and spends her day snuggled up with other dogs in a secluded area rather than join in the bustle of the household. She also takes her cues from the other dogs in her foster home and will need a canine companion in her forever home to show her the ropes. Rosalina will need a family that's willing to give her extra time and patience to come out of her shell and show her how wonderful life can be as a spoiled pet. She's not ready to be leashed and her family will need a way to let her do her business outside in a fenced in yard or puppy pen until she gets comfortable enough to be walked. If you're willing to take a chance on Rosalina and give her the affection and patience she needs, you'll be rewarded tenfold watching her come out of her shell and find joy and comfort in life. She's already started opening up in her foster home and will tentatively approach foster mom for pets under the right circumstances!I am still new to rescue, please check back for updates as my foster family gets to know me. Story
Meet Penny Penny is a purebred Shih Tzu who joined us in July after being found laying on a sidewalk in Chicago earlier in the summer during a heatwave. She was heatstroke and very dehydrated; a good Samaritan took her to the ER for immediate care. With fluids and support care, Penny recovered and was taken to Chicago Animal Control where she sat, until we took her into our Rescue. Penny is a sweet little pup, estimated to be 2-3 years old, and just 11 lbs. She has somewhat of a unique personality, for a young pup. She’s very mellow and is a bit of a loner. While fine with other dogs, she is not really interested in playing with them. That said, she may prefer to be an only dog but we do expect her to evolve into her true self, once she settles into her forever home with her forever family. Penny is fully vetted, heartworm negative and on year-round prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is reported to be housebroken as well.
