Applications can be found here on our website. Hershey was a pretty shy boy when he first arrived. He was scared & not sure what the future was going to be. Well, he arrived at his foster home & was greeted by some furry friends who assured him it was going to be fabulous from here on out. He spent the first few weeks just watching. Watching the humans, watching the other dogs, & watching the household activities. Hershey has come a long way and now follows his foster mom everywhere. He will jump up on the recliner so his foster mom will hold him. He lays in the kitchen next to her feet. He loves his foster mom. He is still unsure of his foster dad but is getting better. In his new home, everyone will need to understand Hershey will need time to adjust so you will need patience. Hershey is still not accepting of the harness and leash so he will need a secure physically fenced yard. In time, his family can work on leash training, but it isn’t going to happen any time soon. He is a very good boy that doesn’t need to be crated & is always on his best behavior when his foster family is gone. He is not completely potty trained but taken out often, he doesn't have accidents. Hershey needs a low-key family that will allow him to bloom. He really needs another dog of similar size in the home already. He will lay and snuggle with his foster siblings around the home during the day and he cuddles with his 4 legged siblings on a comfy bed in his human fosters bedroom. Walter is a 10-year-old Shih Tzu rescued through the Humane Society. Walter only has his canine teeth left, so he will need canned food for the remainder of his life; but he just had a dental in June, so those remaining teeth are clean and polished! Walter is showing some signs of aging, but he is in very good shape. He tolerates some dogs but would prefer to be the only male, and he would be happiest if he was the star of the show. His favorite thing is going on a treasure hunt to find all of the toys. He brings them back to his bed and makes a huge pile of his bounty. Then he sits on his throne to survey all that he has accomplished. Walter appears to like men more than women. He loves to curl up and snuggle in the recliner on his foster dad's lap, but he refuses to sit long-term with his foster mom. She's trying not to take it personally, but he does follow her around the house. Walter has backpack all packed, and he's ready to travel. He would love to head out and see everything there is to see in the world! He loves looking out the window! Walter was recently groomed and will require regular grooming with his new adopters. Sweet little Archie is ready for fun! He would prefer a busier household with friendly people and a friendly dog. At only about three years old and 10-ish pounds, Archie loves going for car rides, enjoys playing with toys, knows his name, and patiently sits in his foster's lap while she brushes him. Archie is a curious dude who goes in and out the dog door just to check on things in the neighborhood and survey his potty spots. Archie needs another dog in the home since he does get nervous sometimes by himself. For example, he walks well on a leash when another dog is there to be a good example. Archie is not crate-trained and can be trusted loose in the house when his foster leaves for several hours. At night, Archie joins the dog gang and sleeps with his foster parents where he stays all night and is well-behaved. Hi! My name is Gidget. I am a 9 year, lovable Shih Tzu looking for my forever home. I am spryand keep my foster mommy laughing. I will let her know when she is out of my sight, and I can't find her by barking and asking where she is. She is spoiling me by picking me up and down to get on the sofa, but I can do it myself. She is trying to teach me how to do steps up to the bed, but why should I when she is there to pick me up. I am blind in my right eye, but that does not stop me. I am good about scanning my environment to see where I need to go. I am working on potty training. I have went through some home changes recently so sometimes I forget to bark when I need to go out, but my foster mommy said I am doing good with my training. I walk well on a leash, and I love to go for car rides. I am a perfect companion dog. I don't pay any attention to the cats in my foster home, and I am good with my pack. I do let them know when they are too close to me and bothering me. They just back off and life is great again. My foster mommy says I would be good as an only dog too if that is what you are looking for. What am I looking for? A loving home that will let me be their shadow and cuddle with them. Secure fenced yard (no electric fences) and companion dog required Misty is a 6 year old shih tzu who had a rough start to life. She is gentle and shy, and she has some quirks. Misty is unable to navigate down flights of stairs, so she needs to be carried. She can go up stairs just fine. She also is sometimes afraid of going outside, so again she needs to be picked up and carried. Misty gets along with other dogs great and mostly just wants to chill near them. She is not rowdy nor is she very loud unless she’s been locked in her crate and she wants out. When she gets excited her whole body wiggles and she starts licking whoever is nearby. Misty would be great in a quiet home where people are around often. She benefits from frequent potty breaks, gets excited for meals and takes treats gently.
